This aint the New York Times. It’s a sports blog. One costs $400 a year and mentions UGA once every preseason. The other is free, and full of UGA content, year round. Just be happy we have it.
I had the frozen brain moment on who the favorite is — blame me — I made the mistake. Georgia is clearly the favorite, I did a story on UGA being the opening line favorite by single digits after winning four straight by double digits.
My mistake — sorry for any confusion!
@D1Athlete1987 I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I made the mistake — just a brain dead moment when writing the story last night — but it's all me. I am accountable. I've done tens of thousands of stories, but I do realize you are only as good as your last, and I failed to identify the correct team as the favorite in that paragraph. It's not a good feeling, but it's something to own up to and apologize for to those who are offended. I can assure you everyone on our team works very hard to provide strong and accurate free content on our DawgNation website, and we'll stay committed to that. But this one was all on me, I fumbled that sentence.
@flemingislanddawg You are correct, it was an error, I had a brain-dead moment writing the story last night at the local McDonald's — probably took a bite of my quarter pounder and took my eye off the ball. It's embarrassing to make mistakes in print, they stay with you forever — when I miss-speak, as I do on occasion, I can correct myself mid-sentence or even sometimes not even realize what I've just said and it's gone. But in print, it stays with you forever, or at least until someone reading the story alerts you. Many readers will send me a message, or sometimes I'll get a call. I truly hate waking up and reading that my mistake has upset so many people or let others down. This is my profession, there's no excuse for mistakes, no one wants to make them. But I can be accountable, and that's why I'm writing this note. You're only as good as your last story, just like a coach is only as good as the last game he called — and in this story, I had the wrong team name as the favorite. Seems awful obvious now, but somehow last night, I read right over it.
@osmosiphobe I'd agree, one of the most obvious facts in the game - I did a whole story on Georgia being the favorite on Sunday. Just had a lapse … that's on me. Thanks for commenting. It takes what it takes, I do my best to avoid typos and mistakes, but sometimes they happen, and this one was embarrassing and regretful.
@GBAL I'd agree credibility of the author and news site is important. I made a mistake in the fourth paragraph, but I think you'll find Gonzales breakdown of the Georgia offense interesting. Clearly, he has identified the biggest threat.
@Kudzu I was drinking half and half tea at the McDonald's with a quarter pounder meal. I'm thinking my appetite got in the way of my literary brain cells at a bad point in the story. Let's just be glad I didn't write anything about how UGA has had to play "Ketchup" a lot this season.
Sounds like a great plan…In the immortal words of one Michael Tyson…everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face…
@Gramster It's kind of pick your poison for Florida, do you sit back an play coverage, or attack the QB? I think the score of the game will have something to do with how the Gators play defense. Fair to say UGA doesn't want to fall behind in this one.
@D1Athlete1987 wrote “This articles are constantly filled with errors…”
Enough said
Looks like Mike took accountability . I’m good .
I hope the play callers noticed how well the Tight Ends did when being targeted. Short throws to the TE releasing after a chip block is almost a guaranteed 8 yards and more. Opens up the defense and then the explosive plays happen.
“The main thing is for us is to hopefully be able to cause some pressure to him, and to cause pressure means being able to coverage in the back end as well.”
Sure appreciate Gonzalez laying out his plan on facing the Dawgs Saturday! It does seem like everyone has the same plan. Can't wait to see how it plays out with a healthier O-line than we have had in quite some time…..with two weeks to get even better!
Thanks @MikeGriffith , great article!
Go Dawgs! The hate for floriduh is real!
Really hate to see the Gators change coaches mainly because the players will have a whole new source of energy and focus. We have all known Florida has plenty of great players and are capable of beating anyone they play, but Georgia has to execute very well and the game should be the DAWGS. Doesn't mean it will be easy or simple (heck, what games so far this year have been), but it should be a win. Go DAWGS!
