Group of 5 HCs very popular!

This whole thing with Kiffin stinks of hypocrisy. Coaches can leave in the middle of the season but players can't transfer until the portal is open.

at least we don’t have to worry about him every year

I’m missing something here with all the negative remarks about Kiffin. He made a decision based on what was best for him and his family not unlike what we would all do if faced with the same decision. He plainly stated he wanted to stay on through the playoffs to finish up what he had started but was understandably denied that opportunity. What was he supposed to do? Was he supposed to tell his staff, come on with me to Baton Rouge and leave no doubt as to Ole Miss being left out of the CFP’s. He was left with no choice but to leave them behind because the Ole Miss admin demanded a decision from him. At least that’s what I make of all this.

Kiffin knew Ole Miss wouldn't (and shouldn't) let him coach in the playoffs… so spouting off like the great guy he wants people to believe he is, in saying he wanted to be with that team, is utter BS. I do hope, however, the CFB committee gives Ole Miss one of those at-large spots, let them step up without their ex-coach and for each other. Go Dawgs!

@khummel: First off I despise Lane Kiffin for a bunch of reasons that I do not want to get into. But please realize that this was a no-win situation.

    1. If he states that he doesn't want to coach Ole Miss through the playoff he gets trashed like Brian Kelly did for leaving 11-1 Notre Dame in the lurch for LSU. I remember when coordinators used to get grief for ditching their teams before the playoffs.
    2. If he states that he does want to coach Ole Miss through the playoff then the result is … this.
    3. Conflict of interest? Kiffin was going to raid Ole Miss of players and assistants anyway.
    4. What prevented Ole Miss from hiring the new coach while Kiffin was still on staff? That new coach could have kept the players and assistants or at least gotten new ones. That way, they probably could have gotten Sumrall from Tulane or someone else they wanted. Answer: nothing. They went all in on keeping Kiffin from leaving and tried to use the playoffs as a bargaining chip. Result? They are stuck with promoting Golding because all of the good candidates were taken.

Admittedly, probably some of my own/other reasons for disliking Kiffin coming through. But I still think his parting comments were unnecessary under-the-bus throwing… which he has always done. For example, saying the players wanted him to stay… what are they supposed to say if he asks the few he sees? And let them speak for themselves, anyway, right?… Let's just say if he's the honorable, classy guy he wants us to believe, there are better things to say on the way out, or nothing at all, not the CYA crap he throws out there about the AD, the players, the coaches he wants to poach, etc. You're right, these things are rarely not messy… but for $13M a year, you might expect elite finesse and diplomacy. Go Dawgs!

Exactly !! And well said !! I don’t H a t r the man as I don’t h a t e anyone. But I extremely dislike him !! And look what he said to his Coaches at Ole Miss !! If you plan on being on MY staff at LSU you better leave with Me NOW !! Knowing they will be preparing for the playoffs !! He is a very selfish and arrogant man in my book !! And the thing is unlike Kirby he has little to no trophies and titles to show for his coaching !! Thankful and Proud to have Kirby !! Go Dawgs !! P.S. Your Name and Reputation are more important than $$ !!
