Group of 5 HCs very popular!
This whole thing with Kiffin stinks of hypocrisy. Coaches can leave in the middle of the season but players can't transfer until the portal is open.
at least we don’t have to worry about him every year
So Kiffin appeals to the AD to stay on and coach the Rebs through the playoffs…but if his assistants want to they are suddenly deemed unworthy of a spot on his staff?
Kiffin is a child.
While his abandoning his team right before the CFP is pretty crappy, treating the assistant coaches is even worse. IF those guys ARE on the plane with him, the Ole Miss team enters the playoffs without half their coaches. That is about as low as it gets. Lane Kiffin should never be allowed to speak the word “loyalty” for the rest of his life. Then blaming the AD reaches another new low. He has thrown his entire team and staff under the bus. Amazingly narcissistic action.

"Kiffin made it clear he wanted to continue coaching Ole Miss through the College Football Playoff after leading the team to an 11-1 record, but the Rebels’ administration did not agree to that."
Ole Miss did the right thing, clear conflict of interest. Can't really have Lane coaching one team and handling recruiting and portal transactions for another team. There's the transfer portal window that starts in January. Also there is the early signing period, which is in December, and the regular signing period, which is in February.
Typical lane kiffin..
Yep, throw those same assistants under the bus, the ones who helped you get where you are today at Ole miss, real smart, karma is a b***h..remember that kiff. But yet not good enough to join him at lsu. Simply because they want to show something to Ole miss he has never had in his entire coaching career, or life..LOYALTY. I bet his dad, RIP rolled over in his grave when he made that comment about his staff. Monte wasnt perfect, but still 10x the man lane will ever be.
I’m missing something here with all the negative remarks about Kiffin. He made a decision based on what was best for him and his family not unlike what we would all do if faced with the same decision. He plainly stated he wanted to stay on through the playoffs to finish up what he had started but was understandably denied that opportunity. What was he supposed to do? Was he supposed to tell his staff, come on with me to Baton Rouge and leave no doubt as to Ole Miss being left out of the CFP’s. He was left with no choice but to leave them behind because the Ole Miss admin demanded a decision from him. At least that’s what I make of all this.
Kiffin knew Ole Miss wouldn't (and shouldn't) let him coach in the playoffs… so spouting off like the great guy he wants people to believe he is, in saying he wanted to be with that team, is utter BS. I do hope, however, the CFB committee gives Ole Miss one of those at-large spots, let them step up without their ex-coach and for each other. Go Dawgs!
Oh cry me a river and pass the violin🎻
@khummel: First off I despise Lane Kiffin for a bunch of reasons that I do not want to get into. But please realize that this was a no-win situation.
Admittedly, probably some of my own/other reasons for disliking Kiffin coming through. But I still think his parting comments were unnecessary under-the-bus throwing… which he has always done. For example, saying the players wanted him to stay… what are they supposed to say if he asks the few he sees? And let them speak for themselves, anyway, right?… Let's just say if he's the honorable, classy guy he wants us to believe, there are better things to say on the way out, or nothing at all, not the CYA crap he throws out there about the AD, the players, the coaches he wants to poach, etc. You're right, these things are rarely not messy… but for $13M a year, you might expect elite finesse and diplomacy. Go Dawgs!
Exactly !! And well said !! I don’t H a t r the man as I don’t h a t e anyone. But I extremely dislike him !! And look what he said to his Coaches at Ole Miss !! If you plan on being on MY staff at LSU you better leave with Me NOW !! Knowing they will be preparing for the playoffs !! He is a very selfish and arrogant man in my book !! And the thing is unlike Kirby he has little to no trophies and titles to show for his coaching !! Thankful and Proud to have Kirby !! Go Dawgs !! P.S. Your Name and Reputation are more important than $$ !!
