Gunner Stockton could be Heisman Trophy finalist, has Tim Tebow blessing
Gunner Stockton could be Heisman Trophy finalist, has Tim Tebow blessing
Gunner Stocktonâs Heisman Trophy run has come to an end, but Stockton saw to it on Saturday Georgiaâs football season will continue into the new year.

Gunner already got his trophy….
I wonder where Gunner will put that in his house.
"Stiffneck"—-That is outstanding!!!
Thats a good one! 😂
I've always liked and respected Tim Tebow. Gunner has many of the same indelible qualities. Getting him for another season will be a great reward in retaining the unique cohesiveness of this 2025 team.
So, all-in-all, Gunner's numbers were better than everyone's (well, Mendoza and Sayin) this weekend, except for actual passing yardage. Better completion rate, perfect on interceptions, three more TDs, the only one with positive running yardage, and those passing yards come in a game where a) we were very run-heavy (it was working), and b)we had at least 3 possessions with significantly shortened fields. No, he isn't flashy, so he's not going to win, but this award isn't supposed to be about flash, it's supposed to be about contribution and relevance.
Former Alabama safety and Super Bowl champion Roman Harper wanted to know why Stockton, rather than slide at the end runs, most often dives forward headfirst.
“I’m just trying to get some more yards,” Stockton said, drawing an on-set fist-bump from Tebow.
That's what they make helmets for - gotta love the "old school attitude. Give it to Pavia, I'm pretty sure that Gunner wouldn't mind - but also pretty sure he won't get it either, as his team will be sitting at home and we get to see James Madison and Tulane instead.
Boy, CF is more screwed up than ever - but pretty sure that's what they wanted
HA!…good one.
@Stiffneck Bwahaha !! Post of the day right there !! Gunner will always hold a very special place in my heart like Stetson. The Heisman has been so watered down over the years. Oh it’d be nice I guess to have it but like the article said Gunner is Much more about Winning !! Stiffneck posted the perfect trophy pic !!
Let's look a little more closely at those 3 TD passes. One was 5 yards, one was 1 yard and one was completed 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage. Might explain why GS's completion % was higher than your other comparisons.
Not faulting GS. He runs the plays that are called. But I haven't seen this short leash on the UGA QB since SBIV's freshman season. CKS and CMB are not giving GS any chances to make game changing mistakes. And to GS's credit, when he is on, he has been Game Manager Supreme.
I am sure that the kid gloves will come off next season for GS. But this season he is being viewed as a game manager by most of CFB with a high completion % resulting from the many many shorter throws he has attempted. We may see a change there in the playoffs. That would be quite a curveball for CKS to throw in a national championship scenario.
BTW where would UGA be this season w/o Zac Branch? He has been the only consistent receiver (WR or TE) on the team. TG for ZB1.
I think Gunner might be a little dinged up too. After Texas I could see Gunner as a Heisman finalist. After Charlotte and Tech, he lost the spot.
Like you said though, I think he could make the finals in nyc for 2026 though.
Gunner get's better with every game. I love watching him play. I'm sure he'll get serious consideration for the Heisman next year. But, as stiffneck illustrated - his trophy this year won't even fit on the mantle.
next year could be his heisman year, hoping he leads a group of draft eligible underclassmen back for another go at it.
