I don't think any school left out of the college playoffs should complain after what happened to Georgia and Florida State in 2023. Both teams went undefeated through the season. Georgia was ranked number 1 for most of the season and lost a close game to Alabama. Florida State went undefeated through the season and won the ACC. The conference championship should not have any data points for who makes it or not. Everyone plays a 12 games season and it should be based off that. This year I see the committee decided to do that by leaving Duke, the ACC champion out and allowing Bama to be in with 3 three loses, including a lost in the SEC championship game. Personally, I think the committee should be structured with ex-NFL coaches and GMs that know what good teams looks like and who have talented roster and coaching staffs. Get away with from the schools affiliate ADs and coaches.

Lol....you're right. The attitude toward Notre Dame....exposes the whole thing, for anybody interested enough to look.

I'll just let that marinate a minute. Think on it. Lol.

@Henddawg Let's not go overboard here. Sure, put Notre Dame in a conference. Result?

    0. Notre Dame wins the ACC this year with a 12-1 record.

    1. Notre Dame wins the Big 12 this year. 2 bottom feeding conferences right? No so fast!

    2. Notre Dame goes 11-1 against Oregon's schedule (losing only to Indiana).

    3. Notre Dame goes 11-1 at worst against Indiana's schedule (losing only to Oregon … maybe).

    4. Notre Dame goes 11-1 against Ohio State's schedule, losing only to Texas.

    5. Notre Dame goes 11-0 against Miami's schedule (ignoring the game against itself). What about the mighty SEC?

    6. Notre Dame goes 10-1 against Texas A&M's schedule (ignoring the game against itself)

    7. Notre Dame goes 10-2 against the Ole Miss schedule

    8. Notre Dame goes 10-2 against Bama's schedule.

Meaning they totally make the playoffs. Their fans know this and it is a major reason why they are so upset. Of course the committee can't go by "what could have happened" but ND would absolutely be in the playoff had they played a typical P4 conference schedule this year.

Notre Dame....doesn't "win" a darned thing on paper....imo.

If you want the Irish to WIN the ACC....then, they have to play by ACC rules and an ACC schedule.

That ACC schedule, could've included GT, FSU, Miami, VA Tech, etc......ALL of whom, are superior to most of the teams Notre Dame plays every year.

Texas lost by 7pts on the road in an out of conference game VS OSU.....and, missed out on the CFP.

Why should ND, who lost....not 1...but 2 games like that...make the CFP over anybody in a Conference like SEC or BIG10.

IF....you want to be an independent school in today's CFP Era....you better darned well schedule some SEC & BIG10 teams....on the "back-half" of your schedule.

And....stop loading up the front end of your schedule with the strong teams...when you know that's the only way, you'll be able to match-up. Early in the season....most teams are on the same level ground.

If....Notre Dame had Texas A&M on the schedule, in week 10 or later....it wouldn't be up to a Committee. Just sayin'.

    Go Dawgs....get Kirby's 3rd. BTA, baby!

Just bad Sportsmanship.....imo. No deeper than that.

We can all empathize....but, not follow.

This level of incompetence at ND reminds me of when they hired GT's Head Coach [O'Leary] out from under em with a big contract, back in the '90's.

THEN.....They fired him a couple of weeks later, for "lying on his resume' about his educational background". Lmao

Notre Dame ain't what she used to be. Lol

@BigDawg61 You mean the same Georgia Tech team that lost to Pitt 42-28 at home? Notre Dame pulled their starters after going up 37-9 against that same Pitt team except on the road.. Georgia Tech also lost 48-36 to Wake Forest. Notre Dame beat Wake Forest 36-7. Good grief. Yes GT took UGA to double overtime and upset Miami last season. But they still went 7-6 overall including losses to Syracuse, Louisville (by 2 TDs), 6-7 Virginia Tech (ditto), and 7-6 Vanderbilt. Wait a minute. That plus UGA only equals 5 losses you might protest. THAT IS BECAUSE GT LOST TO NOTRE DAME LAST YEAR 31-13 IN MERCEDES-BENZ STADIUM. ND's hammering the same GT team that took UGA to 8 OTs predicted ND 23 UGA 10. Seriously, do do any research at all before claiming stuff like this? Notre Dame is a better program with better coaching and better players than Georgia Tech. Has been since Notre Dame hired Brian Kelly way back in 2010, when Georgia Tech was wasting 11 years of its time with a former Georgia Southern and Navy coach, digging themselves a hole that they still haven't crawled out from under even with them grabbing every SEC career backup (which is what Haynes King was at Texas A&M) from the portal because SEC backup = starter for a middle-of-the-road ACC team like Georgia Tech. Again, researching teams other than UGA helps.

Keep in mind: I am not saying that Notre Dame should be in the playoff this year. I am saying that had Notre Dame played Old Dominion, Kennesaw State (who won the C-USA title game BTW), Indiana State, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, UCLA, Maryland, Penn State, Wisconsin, Oregon and Purdue they are 11-1 against that schedule. Whose schedule is this? Indiana. Meaning that even had Indiana lost to Oregon and missed the Big 10 title game, they would have still made the playoff just like last year when they went 11-1 aginst FIU, Western Illinois, UCLA, Charlotte, Maryland, Northwestern, Nebraska, Washington, Michigan State, 7-5 Michigan, Ohio State and Purdue. Did you know Indiana's schedule last year or this year? Or Oregon's schedule this year? Of course not. Otherwise you would have agreed with me.
