Wrong is wrong if it's a piece of bubble gum or a group of looters smashing and grabbing. And no I'm not perfect, not even close. What bothers me is the attittude of some that it's no big deal, just a little theft, when for sure they had the money to pay. If that's the truth. As far as waiting to hear all the facts we probably never will. BUt as of yet I haven't heard anything to suggest it's Walmarts mistake. And I do have a paranoia about self check out at Walmart and I always double check to make sure that I have scanned everything and didn't miss an item. Honest mistake do happen.

I just don't see a scenario in which I didn't scan 94$ or 100$ worth of goods. THose kids will get a slap on the wrist and hopefully learn a lesson (whatever that may be) , but again wrong is wrong. THat's part of what's wrong with our nation today is many don't believe wrong is wrong. We've lowered the bar so low.

Concur - I believe $1,500 or less is considered a misdemeanor in Georgia. over that amount is a felony. Pretty sure this is an overreaction on the local authorities and Walmart's part. It will end up hurting them more than helping. They need to pay more attention to their own employees, as that is where the majority of the shrinkages/theft comes from.

I also think that the writer of this article is "Off Topic" for giving it legs…for selfish reasons. None of this amounts to a "hill of beans".

Thank You !! I Really appreciate that because there are so many times that as you said and I totally agree relevant issues that DN readers would probably be interested in are not covered. And I say that with the realization that the writers can’t cover every single issue So that’s where we the readers can step in. Thx again !!

I thought ( probably as this story shows) that if you tried to walk out with an unpaid for item an alarm would go off ? At Home Depot it does, I don’t know if on All items.

Due to medical issues I have Both short and long term memory issues. My short term is much worse. This story Scares Me !!

Wrong IS wrong !! Stealing IS wrong. BUT the punishment should be commensurate to the severity of the crime. Tying up the court system over $94 split between Two people is cutting off your nose to spite your face in my view. There are By Far more serious issues that our courts should be dealing with.

So IF they deliberately stole these items should they get off Scott free ? A resounding NO !! But it should be a quick on the spot punitive action that makes the point and call it a day. Tying up the court system with stuff like this is just over kill. Now back in the good ole days my attitude would have been different. But we live in a different world now where Numerous crimes that are Far more serious than this are occurring Daily even moment by moment in some cases.

Our court system needs to be focused on Those crimes. A night in jail, and being booked which means your name/info. is now on record and a $100 fine each would be sufficient. If they don’t pay the fine Then it goes before the courts. Walmart is being very trivial to demand a full court press based on the severity of this crime. Had they did violence and/or used weapons Or stole a $2000 TV my view would be much different.

Plus IF they are guilty KS can and probably will take disciplinary action as well. Sounds like Walmart wants them tied to the mast and receive a hundred lashes !!

I'm not convinced they stole anything, but, then again, the reporting has not been very good, and the facts are not within my sight.

Innocent until we know more? That's how I see it.

Yes, wrong is wrong. Yes, punishments must be proportional. Yes, our legal system is all screwéd up.

Remind me not to use Walmart's self check out. Never! It's also possible you won't catch me at Walmart to remind me, but occasionally needs must.

    Go, Dawgs!

And, that's about how much those items would cost in those States....with all their taxes, fees and regulations. Lol

Go Dawgs <---------> Topic! Lol...just for you, @navydawg.

Lmao...i avoid that self-checkout at all costs. I'm just as liable to have an issue as, Not. And, sometimes, you don't even know....or you have to go find a customer rep for assistance. They can stick it where the Brown Trout roam...imo.

I don't like buyin' crap online, either. There's another potential monetary legal issue in-wait. Lol. What happened to good old customer service and currency? I thought people needed jobs?!
