What recent transfer portal additions mean for Kirby Smart, 2026 Georgia football roster

I don't know about anyone else, but thus far, with the possible exception of the safety from Clemson, none of our transfer portal signings excite me. The players check the boxes in terms of positions and physical measurables, but I don't think anyone in the know is saying, "wow, look at who Georgia signed," like they are doing for Indiana and Texas Tech. And all of a sudden, there's no talk about Cam Coleman. Is he even visiting Georgia or is he definitely off to Texas or Miami? Just seems like we're signing people to say we signed people, but I don't know that we're actually improving our roster.

And I agree with whoever said that Carson Beck stepped up last night. We can say all we want that he benefited from UGA. I don't think Beck himself would dispute that. I think Beck did not play well for UGA last year, and there were A LOT of things going on behind the scenes that did not endear him to his teammates or coaches. Leaving was best for both sides. But as I said to a couple of friends after last night's game, if Georgia had gotten this version of Carson Beck in 2024, with his improved attitude, leadership and maturity, Georgia might have gone all the way because his talent level was never in question. I was pulling for Miami last night (cause I'll never support the Ole Miss REBELS), but will pull for either Oregon or Indiana in the championship game. But regardless of what happens then, Carson Beck stood tall last night.
