Great news….our defense is being re-built….just need the offense to do the same.
Speaking of Georgia tight end Elyiss Williams - good grief, a ghost on the field, but such a weapon that we rarely use. Hopefully that changes next season.
@MontanaDawg There aren't opportunities for the 3rd or 4th string TE to do much. RBs and WRs are the primary ball handlers plus only one TE starts. Usually I rant about UGA needing to play 2 TE sets more. That would have been a way to get Williams on the field. But that means taking the slot WR off the field. That would have been a good idea when Dillon Bell played a lot of slot in 2023 due to injuries and was the starting slot in 2024. But in 2025 that would have taken Branch off the field. A disaster.
UGA solved that problem in 2022 by moving Ladd McConkey from slot to outside, which led to bigger roles for Washington and McIntosh. But Branch is smaller and slower than McConkey. He would not have been effective at either outside spot, especially since the other outside WR wasn't going to draw safety help. So there really was no way to get him on the field.
Now as UGA starts 3 WRs, there were PLENTY of opportunities to give the rookies more playing time. Most of the freshman WRs played the X and Y spots that did little after Colbie Young got hurt. But they only saw spot duty and were primarily used as blockers on running plays and screens.
Still looking for that article…Georgia lands Pittman and Monken out of the assistant coaches transfer portal
Glad to see the defense getting some much-needed attention. Randomsportsfan, what I don't understand about your comment is simply why did GA abandoned the TE play maker capability since Brock Bowers left? The plays that Luckie and Oscar made were very nice pick-ups and I honestly think if GA would have kept the emphasizes on the TE's the big plays would have been created more. That is just my opinion.
Still looking for some OL and more DL help. Also echoing Gramster’s comments about Pittman and Monken.
As has been stated below—Please let's see some OL and DL signings—it's what wins them ballgames.
everyone needs to let it go on Sam Pittman and ToddMonken. Pittman is mid 60s and had hip replacement surgery in late 24, and was still walking with a limp when 2025 season started. Arkansas still owes him roughly 3 years of salary and when he took Arkansas job he stated that this will be it for me.grew up in Arkansas and has a lake home in Hot Springs. He is done. I don’t know who but let’s go with some up and coming young guy who is high energy and can relate to young players.
Monken does not want to recruit. Be extremely surprised to see him return to college coaching.
