If these defensive transfers don’t step up into starter roles or quality backups, defense could be a real concern for this team next season. I’m hopeful and confident they will. Would really love to see it start to click for Branch in the secondary.

If Gunner can start hitting receivers over the middle, extend our time of possession and put points on the board, hopefully this will take some pressure off of the defense until these guys grow more comfortable in their roles.

Hopefully Bobo will turn Gunner loose next season and open up the offense more. Go Dawgs!

Interesting and concerning. Why last year's defensive transfers were so disappointing remains a mystery. What reason do we have to be optimistic and hopeful about those coming in to help next season?

    Go, Dawgs!

Horton was a major contributor on the DL this year, especially at the end of the year. I would consider his contributions a success. Branch was hit and miss on defense but a regular on ST. So we will see next year if he can take another step. The rest were non-factors. As far as Ridley goes, Im not sure he beats out Kyren Jones and Khalil Barnes (and of course Bolden) this year to crack the regular rotation. If he can play star, I could see him getting some regular snaps and provide depth across the back end.

Seems like Schumann overrecruits linebackers at the expense of defensive linemen, particularly edge rushers.

    Great in-depth analysis Connor.

It's a crap shoot when it comes to how productive transfers become. That's one of the reasons I feel like every year going forward you just never know which unexpected teams rise and which teams fall. Next season will be a true test for every team, as many teams have completely re-shuffled their deck from QB to kicker. I'll tell you one thing for sure- the SEC will be a stronger conference next season.

It comes down to money and immediate playing time. We don't pay enough and no one is willing to wait and develop if they have options elsewhere to play. Starting to get worried.

And more so about the o-line. The Bo H. departure really irritates me. It seems like he was Searles' last choice every time last year and every time, when he got in, he did a really solid job. Searles' infatuation with "330 lbs or more" is hurting the program. Maybe for the interior OL, but tackles need to be able to move and Bo could slide. But he's only 300 lbs, so Searles has him ride the bench. I don't blame Bo. I blame Searles.

We need coaches who can recruit, not recruiters who can coach. AND a new pair of coordinators.

With the coaching philosophy at Georgia and I’m not knocking it because they prove to be winners even if not a yearly championship. I seriously doubt Mendoza would be the starter if he would have chosen Georgia unless Stockton had an injury because of the system and the 3 year learning process. How many more Mendozas have been missed ?
