Yep....ya gotta have a defense, you can "count on" to hold em back in the second half....specifically, in the 4th quarter.....in order to play that small ball and expect to outscore the other guy in a track meet.

Imo....Kirby was protecting his young, inexperienced Defense and Offensive Line, by playing conservative and eating up clock.

Allowing them to make their rookie mistakes....while managing the damage caused to a minimum. Slow the game down, prevent the miscues from turning into "opposition points". Teaching moments...as they say.

Just sayin'. Defense...Defense....Defense. Along with Elite Running Game execution...and, .Everything else will fall into place. Teams will have to put 8 or 9 in "the box" to stop a great running game.

And, guess what that opens up?.…the passing game. Kirby and Bobo know what they're doing. It's sustainable and dependable.

The Dawgs have had plenty of defenses under Smart that could play shutdown "D"....but, THEY were experienced and deep, along with all the talent. Next year....I expect developed players making tackles and creating havoc. Consistently!

This is the recruiting class I was hoping, would have a couple of big time "Leaders". Time'll tell.

Objectively untrue. He schemed open players for Stockton all sugar bowl and evey other game that he looked right at and chose not to throw the ball. Younall blame play calling while not even researching or watching film that allows you the time and view point to see what is really happening on tbe field. He turned down at least 3 td passes in sugar bowl. 3 times they schemed a busted coverage and had a pitch and catch td. Stockton even can be seen looking at the target? But turns them down or left a clean pocket too early. Sometimes your ol fails you and nothing he can do about that, but you all have gotten so obsessed with blaming bobo you cant even be objective or see the true reality of things. I have no desire to defend him. The truth is the truth though and the portion of fanbass that says its Mike bobo is so lost In this hate narrative that has been built that they can't even realize how much their opinions and perception are influenced by it. I was once the exact same way. I just hsppen to be a person not afraid to search for truth and proof. When I went looking the proof wasn't in my favor and the tape showed that it was on players and execution. Not the things I thought and would swear by were his fault. I tell you this so you and whoever sees if csn learn and better yourself. To open your eyes to what you most likely are Incapable of seeing bc of how negatively your mind is influenced from this narrative going on for so long. It us confirmation bias at its finest. You've decided its that so anytime something isnt the result you want you are able to point to it and associate him with it. Being wrong is embarassing and more than anything I domt want my fellow dawgs fans being wrong and embarsssing themselves and the rest the fan base by blaming coordinators and spreading incorrect opinions. We gotta all.be elite ball knowers who seem to always be correct in other fan bases eyes. Understanding and seeing what the casual cfb fsn misses.

a lot of Stockton’s dips resulted directly from Bobo’s incompetent play calling and scheming…

Pollock was a great playere but far inferior analyst. Some of yall listen to him too closely.espefially when yiu consider how hard he tries to appear neutral and not favor uga. It skewed his perception the opposite ways at times. We had a young team. Players dont stay the exact same. Especially tbe younger they are. We have at least 2 guys that will be drafted 1st rd this draft. Not sure anyone who goes first rd qualifies as just really good not great. Unless that is your scale and guys have to.be generational players or once a lifetime or era type guys like Jeremiah Johnson or Brock bowers for you to consider that good enough to meet your criteria. Id add Indians didnt have these elite next level players yoh speak of. They just out executed everyone. Even Mendoza who won the heisman did not throw for over 300 yards once all year. So the idea a bunch of really good players isnt good enough was proven untrue just this past national championship. We have all sorts of guys who could come out and be elite players even though you have downplayed in your mind the quality of players the guys already are. Maybe its your perception or expectation. Subconsciously comparing today's guys with teams of old. That wont happen and good thing is it doesnt have to be no one has a team like that. Just have to accept the current state of cfb and the reality of everything else. We were good enough to win last year. At least against ole miss. Injuries were the greatest factor and even just 1 key guy healthy almost surely equals a runaway win. It also was never supposed to be our year last year. Sometimes you just have to accept thst your team and their experience levels as well as year of development the majority of players and or other key guys are in is not in the year you need to be to most likely be able to win it all. Maybe jf every other break went our way there would have been a small chance, but that rarely happens ad didn't happen and so we came up short. The difference in NC and several other teams is so marginal now thst any year could be your year or it may not be. Its basically interchangeable. You change one or a few things and get completely different outcomes. Im talking uncontrollable things. Like injures, matchups, just the luck of who was hot and in a zone thst could do no srong that day and who wasnt. We have some things tk figure out for this next year. Won't know if they do until ut all plays out. They have a real shot to possibly win it all. They also could come up short. Wouldn't be because they needed change or anything else. Just comes down to how perform each day and more luck than they have hsd in several years.

@D1Athlete1987 The final offensive opportunity sticks out to me as an example: That 3rd down play Gunner had Young open in the endzone and also had Branch coming up towards the goal line over the middle but he went to Delp who was open for only a split second when the defender's back was to the ball. By the time Gunner threw it, the window was gone. Why was he not looking for either Young or Branch? (which were easier throws in my opinion) That play had touchdown all over it.

To the story about a 'consistant' Gunner. UGA WRs caught a total of 186 passes, and Branch caught 81 by himself. A whopping 44% of the total WR receptions. Gunner can only be as good as the play makers around him and I'm not seeing that standout guy or two as of yet. Right now that caliber of player isn't on the roster. Hoping I'm wrong.

These comments I can fully agree with. Not so much your previous comments. Either way the 2025 season is over and now history. All I can ask from our coaches and players is Learn from it both the good things and the bad things. Go Dawgs !!

The fact that Gunner was brought into UGA as a Dual Threat QB. And that he had TEN TDs rushing and was the Third leading rusher on the Team Just doesn’t seem to count at all for Some fans. All those many, many times he picked up First downs with Third and even Fourth down plays. Many of which were at Critical times just don’t seem to matter.

Kirby and Bobo took him on the team with full knowledge that he was a Dual Threat QB. Not a pure pedigree pocket QB. So it’s not like they were caught off guard. And it doesn’t seem to matter that in his First Year as the Starter. He had more Total TDs through Fourteen games than Beck did through Fifteen games even though it was only One more TD.

First year starter Gunner vs Vastly more Experienced Beck. Now it’s True that Beck threw the ball for significantly more yardage than Gunner. But he also had 12 INTs to Gunner’s 5 INTs.

Did Gunner as a First Year Starter make mistakes ? YES. Even some Critical ones ? YES. But did Gunner help Win allot of games ? You dawg gone right he did !!

Now like Any human being ALL he can do is his very level best to improve. That’s all any Reasonable person should expect, Especially in this NIL and TP environment where your not sure Who your teammates will be !! Go Gunner !! Go Dawgs !!

@D1Athlete1987 stated “blame play calling while not even researching or watching film that allows you the time and view point”

Gunner is a little over 6 feet and on any given pass play is looking thru and around 9 or so 6’6”+ players. Unless that film shows the same view point as Gunner had, easy to criticize and come to the incorrect conclusion that he looked right at the schemed open receivers and “chose” not to throw. Gunner’s greatest improvement could come from (Monken and SB4 come to mind) coaching up his ability to find better seeing and throwing lanes. This was an issue with CB last year, hence the catastrophic interception rate, his throwing lane awareness was horrible. I reserve judgement to blame this phenomenon on Bobo but I do hope to see massive improvement from Gunner if he is being coached up right…just my 2 cents

It seems logical to me that Bobo should get Gunner out on the flank more often and out of the way of those 6'6" linemen who are trying to chase him down, plus he would have the option to run if the situation presented itself.

All of these comments are interesting and we all have our own opinions but I think most would agree Gunner is a dang good Dawg and a dang good qb. I scream and yell at the tv and from our couches it’s easy to see mistakes and missed opportunities thanks to slow motion and instant replay but I imagine it is immensely more difficult to pick those up in real time on the field. That said, I feel confident that those things like finding the open receivers, trusting the pocket more, and touch over the middle will be the things that Gunner and the coaches will be working on for the next 7 months. I for one am excited to see how much Gunner grows in his second year as a starter. If nothing else it will be exciting. Go Dawgs!

there is plenty of blame to go around in key moments, as there is in any loss. Starting at the top, Kirby’s clock management at the end of the first half and decision to go for it on fourth down. Bobo’s play calling to start the game with passing focus instead of running after the great success in ole miss game #1 seemed backwards as did his insistence to run in 3rd qtr when ole miss made adjustments. And, the series at the end of the game has been beat to death. How about Schumann’s failure to come up with a pressure plan when we were out our best pass rusher due to injury, and questionable calls on ole miss’ winning drive. Then the players; they executed well on some plays and others not so much, be it Stockton, maybe pulling it down to run too soon, not seeing open receivers or being to timid to throw over the d-line. Was the o line out played or out schemed? The secondary took a hit when our safety was ejected, but they also seemed out-talented by ole miss receivers. Of course Chambliss had the game of his career. I say all this to hope that everyone in that locker room will take accountability and responsibility to improving in the weight room, the spring practice field, and with independent practice needed to attack next season.
