Do we have a QB problem?
we have a backup QB problem
UGA does have a backup QB problem. Also GS '26 looked a lot like GS '25. I know it's early.
@Kasey...I have to agree at this point. Vandy's new QB, Jarad Curtis, performed extremely well in their Spring game yesterday, making a couple of unbelievable throws. But so did senior QB Blaze Berlowitz. Heated competition going on between the two competitive QBs. I'm really looking forward to playing the Dores in October.
Glad to see the Dawg's defense shining and the TE room yesterday..finally.
I was pretty impressed with the team overall.
The tight end room was the star of the show. Wow! Jaden Reddell turned a lot of heads, including mine, but the entire TE room stood out.
The number of injuries at the end of spring practice is concerning but not alarming to me.
The energy and excitement the players exhibited was a very good sign as was team cohesion and camaraderie.
Kirby & Company are doing a great job.
Go, Dawgs!
I’m parroting another Dawgs fan that commented here and I can’t remember who it was.About Bobo. But Bobo kept the Offense about as vanilla as it gets. Now My takes, And having seven different QBs playing I’m not to shocked at the lack of explosive passing plays. However the TEs look very promising !! Reddell is a Beast !! And the guy I was bragging about early on Prothro didn’t let me down. RBs looked really good to me !! Defense making plays with both sacks and INTs !! Another guy that I bragged about early on Tyrique Green looked good.
On both Prothro and Green I don’t mean to come across like I was the only one bragging about them when they signed on. Plenty of Dawgs fans saw what they could be. I thought over all this 2026 Dawgs team looks Very promising. Keep in mind key players were missing. Put this team on the polishing wheel summer and fall and by season’s start I Believe we will have a team ready to joust with anyone !! Go Dawgs !!
Having watched several spring games, QB's have never looked great, however, Millender and Beaver showed promise. Dowdell impressed and Bowens looks like he attacked the weight room. Peanut, Jeremy Bell and the tight ends flashed. D line looks stout. Ty Green will be hard to keep off the field.
I thought it was a pretty mediocre display of our talent. The first quarter was ho hum. Gunner looked like the old Gunner. Puglisi didn't look sharp. Montgomery's first pass was impressive. Beaver looked like he knew what he was doing.
I predict there will be monumental battles between Montgomery.and Puglisi for the # 2 spot. And Millender is not gonna twiddle his thumbs either. He could sneak in there and beat both of them out !!
Tell you Beaver the QB transfer from Oregon impressed me to !! Next portal some of these guys will probably move on. Sad because I saw potential in most of them in different ways.
As for Gunner he didn’t even get a chance to break a sweat Lol !! He did adequately for the moment. I’m not even vaguely looking at G Day as a way to monitor his progress or lack of. That will be better measured when we see him play a truly competitive team.
I’m looking forward to what our RBs can do against a good Defense and with our O Line starters being established. G Day is well G Day so even if I were a gambling man which I’m not I wouldn’t be placing bets either way.
But just on the surface with this glorified scrimmage the RBs looked very good. The TEs have Awesome potential. I hope Bobo will find ways to help get them the ball !!
it’s a dang G-day game guys… relax. I’m looking at who can play fundamental football more consistently. Why on earth do we want to see everyone be explosive? I can see some explosive plays but G day is not for fans anymore… I hate to tell anyone that. Kirby is making it tougher and to gauge where players are at, and does the game move too fast for them.
let’s chill out til the season starts, because it’s a long road ahead.
one word describes uga o: moribund
But it’s realistic to ask does Vandy have a good defense ? If not then it’s understandable to see why Both their QBs would shine. Though UGA’s defense is also a work in progress I think we saw Huge potential there. Kirby Wanted the UGA QBs to have to earn every yard using G Day play calling. This was a glorified final scrimmage of spring practices. Our QBs over all looked pretty good against a very determined and talented Dawgs defense which was/id missing key people. By season start this is gonna be a Very formidable Dawgs team !!
QBs looked fine. QB 2 and 3 look open—we'll see who wants to earn it. I have to say that Millender looks like he could develop into a special player. He didn't look nervous at all. Good arm, good size, speed is fine. He could develop into the fast, big arm, big bodied QB we've never had.
The WRs looked strong. The freshmen Daindridge and Prothro look like alphas who'll go up for the 50-50 ball. Prothro looks like he could develop into a Mike Evans kind of guy.
The TE room is what it always is. They aren't Bowers or Washington, but they did look like future draft picks. We can still create mismatches with these guys.
The OL was stable. That's all we need. Stable and healthy. The talent is not an issue.
The RB room is deep—we all know that. They can all run, but it was good to see the young guys able to catch balls out of the back field too. Sometimes we overlook the value of that skill. Last year, you could tell we were limited to guys who could run OR guys who could catch. Defenses had to know whether we were passing or running based on who the RB was.
DL looks promising. Our biggest area to improve on defense is finishing off the QB. Chambliss killed us when we got pressure because we could not finish him off. You can't wrap up the QB on G-Day so I don't know if we improved on this specific skill.
LBs looked good. We have good length and speed in that group. The young guys looked hungry. Littlejohn and Abrams Jr. were all over the place. I expect good things from them in 2027. We'll see if they can execute the advanced scemes later in the season.
DBs looked better. The coverage looked tighter and more consistent. We'll have to wait and see how much pressure our DL generates to help them on the backend. There shouldn't be too many busts and completely wide open receivers running down the field.
Special teams are one thing I never worry about. Beginning with Kevin Butler in the 80's and up through today, our kickers and special teams are almost always top-tier. We'll still be above average here, even if we drop off some from Thorson. Woodring is one of the best we've ever had. No worries here.
Overall, the guys had a lot of energy, looked comfortable, and looked like a cohesive unit. Looking forward to the Fall. GO DAWGS!
Beware the down vote bandit is among us !! 🤣 I wonder if he’d down vote someone bragging on his down voting ? 🤣 Ah it’s good to be a little kid !!
