Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

What are the odds that he goes somewhere other than his “top school?”
How long can we continue hemorrhaging top in-state talent? It’s getting down right embarrassing.
been hearing that refrain for almost ten years now
Yeah, and rapidly trending negative. I know David Jacobs & Thomas Davis were less-than-thrilled about the approach.
you asked them? rapidly? we’ve been recruiting nationally during Kirby’s entire tenure. if there’s a Georgia kid we really need we usually get them.
Why just in 2025 we got Elijah griffin, Juan Gaston, Isaiah Gibson, and Zander walker all in state. They were all 5 stars. In 2026 we got Kaiden Prothro who I believe was the number one player in state and Ekene Ogboko who I believe was the number one OL in state. I suppose we missed on homegrown guys last cycle, but I’m not seeing the “rapidly” here. Especially with 2027 still ongoing.
David Jacobs went to a place that paid him the most and let the staff know that.
I don’t think Thomas Davis was ever a primary option for us.
Yeah, appreciate the positivity. Never questioned Kirby’s roster management abilities before. Not sure what “elite” recruiting looks like anymore to be honest. Quick review from 247Sports Composite Top 5 In-State ~ 36% UGA signee rate.
2022 2/5

I suppose this is in-line with other states like CA, TX, OH, FL. Thanks for backing me away from the ledge👍🏻.
Go Dawgs!
another issue UGA faces is how transient Georgia is. These Atlanta area kids’ parents likely didn’t grow up here and have no special affinity for UGA from their youth.
I think that’s different from a place like Ohio or Alabama. Both of those schools have other big ones they have to ward off, but it feels like UGA has to compete with Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, and South Carolina for the best in state talent.
