College football has never policed itself and never will. The risk-reward ratio is way off with little or no risk if they get caught. The NCAA is powerless without subpoena authority or an agreement amongst the institutions and players to provide records on demand. The school presidents, ADs and coaches aren’t going to give that authority to the NCAA or any other organization. Who thinks schools, boosters and players are going to voluntarily report how much money they’ve getting, especially if it’s over the agreed upon amount. There’s really no way to police it.

The government is grinning because this money is now taxed where before if any alleged money was earned it was tax free .

The College Sports Commission has about as much power as the NCAA's enforcement power. Kind of like Cam Newton getting paid by Auburn and Auburn telling the NCAA to prove it. On the flip side, Georgia turned in Todd Gurley for a far less violation.

That P.O.S. in the above picture says it all.

Leave it to the toothless NCAA. Who used to nail a player for selling a signed jersey, and now this. No thought. No rules. no guardrails. There should be a universal set of rules, but who makes them? The NCAA is a pointless entity that needs to just go away.

As big money takes over college football, it’s hard to recognize the game we grew up loving. And doubling the size of the College Football Playoff wouldn’t help. Click below to check out my latest Junkyard Blawg.
