What contract extensions for Glenn Schumann, Mike Bobo mean for the future of Georgia football
What contract extensions for Glenn Schumann, Mike Bobo mean for the future of Georgia football
If you believe that your contract states what your value is to a company, Georgia now sees offensive coordinators Mike Bobo and Glenn Schumann as equals.

Stability is not what we need. We need change.
Just be in the hunt it what reasonable UGA expect.

The signings mean both Bobo and Schumann will be UGA coordinators this season; that's it! Kirby is comfortable working with both, and he believes in both, so that's who he wants as his coordinators. While I don't believe Bobo is/was going anywhere, unless he wants to retire from full-time coaching, Schumann will continue to receive job offers for a head coaching position and eventually leave. I'm a big Muschamp fan and believe he definitely added something to the defense, but Smart couldn't make him stay if he didn't want to stay. As great a schematic coach as Muschamp is, nobody out-recruits Schumann, especially at the LB position. I'd like to see more creativity on the offensive side of the ball, but I believe a lot of that is Smart wanting to keep the offense conservative and rely on the defense to keep him in the game and the OL to out-physical the opponent. We all have to admit that's been a winning formula for 10 years and two nat'l championships.
With the same coaching staff, ongoing, 2025 may be the UGA plateau for the foreseeable future.
More head scratching offensive play calls?
More head scratching rinse and repeat comments from couch potato coaches named....well you know
LOL....wish there was a plateau on inane comments
Yeah...3 SECC in 4 years and BACK2BACK SECC screams we need change. Sigh...so tired of asinine so called fans saying empty things which lack competency
3rd and 7 = 3rd and bobo. Hopefully Gunner and the boys can overcome one of the worst play callers in college football. Kirby with a dynamic O/C has proven nearly unbeatable. Kirby with this O/C is 2 first round CFP exits and one season of not making it at all. Facts.
Everything's great! Even when we can't win a playoff game. Stay the course. How's life in Richtville?
Don't leave Dawgnation and venture out into the real world. You're likely to get you feelings hurt.
Yet, CKS has called for more explosive offense. Does he fear the pass? Or does Bobo not know how to scheme the pass? Or do they both fear Gunner throwing the pass? Maybe their still hung over from Beck's interception rate to the point where they're all too conservative, now.
CFB Stats: Georgia’s third-and-long passing first-down rate has declined:
2023: 18 first downs on 51 attempts — 35.3%
2024: 19 on 60 — 31.7%
2025: 17 on 60 — 28.3%
In 2025 specifically, Georgia converted only 7 of 33 passing attempts on third-and-10-plus, or 21.2%.
Bobo doesn't mind passing on 3rd and 7, but too many of those passes are conservative screens, checkdowns, underneath concepts or throws short of the sticks.
Let's see what Bobo and Gunner do with the current, talented TE room this year.
One incompetent couch potato's take.
Extensions for Smart's buddies Bobo and Schumann just mean that we are saddled with two very mediocre or worse coordinators for the team for another two or three years. Not good. Nobody else will hire either of them.
Mike Price would never
From one "couch potato" to another...You DON'T wait for 3rd and long to develop your passing game. And, you DON'T use 3rd Down passing efficiency to evaluate a passing game.
"3rd and Long" is more damage control than anything else. You need to put more focus on 1st & 2nd Down. Which they were trying to do...but, were inconsistent due mainly to lack of experience and nagging injuries.
I can't speak for the injuries....but, as far as experience and talent and skill players and defense and Coaches...UGA is far better off in '26 than they were over the last 3 years.
This IS....The year of the Dawg! Go get em Mike. Show em what a seasoned offense can do.
