National media dishes on Georgia offense entering 2026: ‘I kind of trust their evaluation’
National media dishes on Georgia offense entering 2026: ‘I kind of trust their evaluation’
There’s been a lot of chatter about the state of the Georgia offense entering the 2026 season.

I thought Branch was outstanding, but I think Canion, Wiley and Taylor will be more effective downfield. Branch got most of his receptions and yards with catches behind the LOS. Looking forward to a more explosive offense with tons of 15+ yard receptions. Go Dawgs!!!
We need someone electric to show up like we had with Bowers and AD Mitchell. Someone who when the game is on the line you call the play to get them the ball knowing they will make the play. Yes, we have a lot of very good football players in Frasier, Luckie, Gunner, Elyiss, Humphreys. We need someone ELECTRIC who can win games in the clutch in the playoff.
I'm betting that guy is REDDELL, PROTHRO, or TAYLOR. We need to get the ball in their hands throughout the year and see if we have that guy. We can't wait til the playoff to pull that trigger. Gunner could be that guy as well but he has fallen short last 2 years so I don't think it is him.
It might be Taylor but Wiley dropped a lot of passes in the Spring scrimmage so he needs to improve with that. Canion is a possession guy and will be important but he is not the electric guy we need to find. I think it is Reddell and Prothro but Gunner has got to get them the dang ball.
Yes indeed and I’m feeling the vibes that Prothro may be electric as both a TE and WR. Hopefully he will be the second coming of Brock Bowers. If our young receivers breakthrough then we may have a much better passing attack than we have seen in the past. This is what makes the preseason so much fun…..kinda like Christmas Eve when you were a little guy. I remember last year I was so excited when the season started, but in the first few games the OL couldn’t get any push and our RBs kept getting slammed for very short gains. I think we will know early how the season will progress based on the OL play….even against weaker opponents. Go Dawgs!!!
how many times did Bobo call downfield plays for Branch?
We'll never know because we don't know how many times Gunner checked out of a play that was going downfield.
Could be one through maybe four WRs that step up. Really excited about Prothro. He just seems to have that electric IT factor. Even if not it’ll be because he’s being double covered. I know, I know, high praise for a freshman that hasn’t taken a collegiate snap. But barring injuries I honestly believe he will show up big time.
As for Gunner for me there are three provisos. One is IF the O Line is as good as we Hope they will be. Two is IF Coach Bobo gives him plays for optimum success.
TDS and Wins are the most important stats of all. From a first year as true starter I don’t see where any of our QBs since the B2B Nattys did much if any better. This said THIS is his year to Really show up Big. Unless he has a serious injury most criticism of him will be justified more so This year.
For me his leaving the pocket many times last year were because the O Line broke down and let defenders get to him. Actually because of his athleticism he turned busted O Line plays into positive yardage. Some like to quote “ being in the system”. That has small value compared to real game snaps. Especially against a quality rival defense.
Lastly the third proviso is I hope that our pass catchers be it a WR or a TE can get good separation from defenders, run smooth routes and be where they’re supposed to be on time.
If these things happen and Gunner Doesn’t perform well then he’s open to any criticism he gets. But I honestly think any real criticism will be very nominal as I think Gunner will perform and at a high level. In short until I see a reason not to I’m Believing in these Dawgs that’s All of them ! Go Dawgs !!
