Cash Jones

The Dawgs are well known for the development of players. The latest of these would seem to be Cash Jones, the former 3rd down RB, fighting for a job with the Falcons.

In yesterday's game vs the Colts:

Jones had a game-high 62 yards receiving off four catches, including a 13-yard TD, along with 42 yards rushing on seven carries and a 23-yard kick return.

Not bad for a much maligned walk-on, eh?

You would think these success stories, and this one is a beauty, would translate into value for the Bulldogs hiring process. When they're hiring new players every year, does retention money and the development piece have impact?

I surely don't know. If anyone has a son or daughter in recruitment hiring process, it would be interesting to have some insight on today's culture.

Speaking of former, if only for a short while, Dawgs, I saw the Justin Fiels has signed and is trying to catch on with the KC Chiefs. It's his, I think, 4th NFL team. Maybe the 4th time is a charm. I think he could use some luck.

IMO Fields never was an NFL qb1. He is basically a little better Anthony Richardson. He had inflated stats at OSu based on system, talent around him and schedule. His inability to read a defense has never really improved. If Reid can’t improve that his NFL career will not last much longer.

yeah chicago was not good. But wouldn’t have mattered if he played for the chiefs or the bills or whoever. He has issues with reading defenses and it hasn’t gotten better

Just read this:

The Falcons have until 6:00 pm EST on Sunday, Aug. 30 to name their final 53-man roster. Jones is right on that cut line, so at this point it is impossible to predict if he will make the team or not. The Falcons do have one more preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday Aug. 28. This will be Jones' last chance to show he deserves one of the Falcons' 53 roster spots, and if he has another big game then it could be impossible for the Falcons to keep him off their roster.

Well, unfortunately Cash didn't make the 53 man roster. Hopefully he can join the practice squad or get picked up by another team. Too much talent and heart not to stay in the game.

Saw where Zeus and Mecole were also cut, but Stetson did make the Rams roster.
