Coach Budenholzer squandered a great hand...

The day Danny Ferry was fired for what amounts to nothing The Hawks chances of becoming a real contender dyed.
Coach Bud took a 60 win team that was loaded with prime draft picks and turned it into garbage.
Now to finish the slaughter he seems to think winning a few more games is more important than landing 1 of the 3 or 4 elite players in this year's draft.
The man is a good coach and a freaking moron. He won another meaningless game last night to push the team's record to 6th worst.
The idiot can't even lose properly.
Ownership was plain **** turning the GM job over to him and more **** to keep him as HC when what they needed was a short term wink and nod HC to if not throw games, at least not sweat losses.
Bud Boy seems to think he's coaching for his job, ownership should have seen this coming.

A top draft pick in a year like this wouldn't be enough to turn this bunch of sows ears into champions, but if they miss this one time opportunity there will be virtually no hope left when 4 years ago the potential was limitless..

This is so typical of a city with maybe the sorriest history in pro sports in the country.

Died, not ''dyed'' why can't we edit when we start a thread ?

Yeah, it’s died. The Hawks die a little more with each ridiculous win. To Buds credit, the minutes are being distributed like a little league team.

Lived in Atlanta for more than three decades before moving to the beach. We had one Braves championship, one old soccer championship, one UGA championship, and, I think, one LLWS championship. We knocked out Roger Staubach, with a lead....the back up came in and rallied the Cowboys to victory in the NFC championship. The Braves went to NYC, took two games on the road.....came home and never won another game in that series. Two years ago, the Falcons, this year the Dawgs.....it appears the Cherokee Nation has left all Georgia sports fans our own trail of tears.

Also the 1 Braves title came in a season shortened by a strike, it's like 2/3 of a championship.
This self destruction with The Hawks seems almost preordained.

That late 80s Hawks squad was a team that wasn't quite good enough though.
It gave Boston 1 tough post season series, then sizzled like all Atlanta teams do.

It's bad when your coach can't even figure out how to lose enough to be useful.
    It's Dawgs or bust.

I know. I was just pointing out even a team with a deep and talented roster like that one never quite realized it's potential and had a very short run.
After losing the playoff series to Boston pundits called The Hawks the next great team. Like the 1980/81 Falcons it was just a brief tease though.

    The roster.
    Wilkins
    Rivers
    Willis
    Rollins
    Webb
    Carr
    Wittman
    Livingston
There was talent, but no big time scorers other than Wilkins and it was a marginal passing team, only Doc was a complete player in that regard, and he only scored 12 pts a game.

This 2018 team doesn't have asingle player who could start on a top 10 team.

Remember that line up well. Always enjoyed watching Nique and KW crash the boards.
