Could potentially see him 4 years in a row in the Benz though.
nah... Kirby is putting an end to the Bama dynasty this year lol.
Good point, we may see him 5 times if he goes to Bama, but only 4 times at Tenn. Is Arkansas not an option, he could be the best player of all time there!
The issue is we know how Tennessee is recruiting him:
"Come paly with us and you'll be a...
Frankly, the BPAs are too good to take anyone other than the top 3 IMO. Large is a nice blocking piece, but he isn't bringing a skillset that I feel that we couldn't get from either 1) a guy on campus or 2) a quality in-state PWO that can come on the Zell Miller/Hope scholarship.
I'd hate to see us pass on say Arian Smith or Zyk Walker due to space limitations because we took a TE who may or may not contribute.
Agreed. Final spots in 2020 are a premium. Tea leaves make me think Large will be heading to Wisc, and will probably have a solid productive career there for them.
Perfectly said
Won't lie I wanted Gilbert too, just looks so explosive and good at catching the ball.
I just hope he doesn't go to Bama, Gilbert in that offense would be very hard to cover.
Have to disagree. See him 4 years but the Vols don't have the talent to really punish us with him. Bama does.
I would look at it the other way. We already know we will line up against studs at every spot when we play Bama. Tennessee is desperate for difference makers. His impact could be much bigger there.
And we can look at it a different way too, not many 5 star athletic TEs walking around either, last thing I want is him to do is go to a loaded team and make them even better. Vols is a much better option from UGA's standpoint. Not sure how this is up for debate, other than we hate UTk more than Bama.
I agree with this; Bama has enough playmakers to keep us honest in our coverage of Gilbert. With UT, OTOH, we could probably negate the size advantage in various ways since he doesn't have good speed (for a WR).
Fair enough. Assuming he isn't in the class, wherever he goes I want him to regret not wearing the Red and Black!
Hard to believe Saban would allow Gilbert to control the narrative that he is a WR. If this is the case Bama may be desperate for his commitment.
They are selling Irv Smith, who didnt do much blocking there either.
