The truth hurts and it serves no one to sugarcoat it or try to hand wave away visible deficiencies...I could buy a Bama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, LSU shirt as well because those are the teams were competing with if we want to win championships. It is really saying something that Nick Saban and Ed Orgeron are more forward thinking offensively than Kirby.
How did Bama’s new exciting offense work for them last year vs Clemson? How many playoff wins has it brought Oklahoma? Also, you think cranking up a passing offense while rebuilding our receiver group is a great idea? But this is way off topic and I get frustrated when others get **** into this kind of talk in a recruiting thread. Enjoy your day.
Can we focus on recruiting in the recruiting thread? Is that too much to ask???
Well I was responding to a post about the appeal of UGA versus other schools for the TE/WR prospects (Washington, Johnson, Smith, Henderson) and whether scheme and usage would impact their decision making. Are you arguing that offensive philosophy would have no impact?
And you don't see how this could snowball into a 3-5 page debate with any relevant recruiting news posts getting lost in the shuffle?
It worked well enough against us in the National Championship and SEC Championship game. Though I think Clemson is a template we should be exploring since they have been able to weld a more high octane offense (both running and passing) with an aggressive defense (with a good havoc rate). And again, do you not think offensive philosophy, scheme, and usage has an impact on the recruitment of offensive players?
Gilbert just Committed to
Lunch?
Chick-fil-a more specifically
Nope. Closed on Sunday
dang.
I forgot the /s
they're probably correct!
Why would Arian Smith or Gilbert want to go to UGA with the offensive philosophy we have showed thus far?
Why do you think guys like Ridley & Mecole jumped ship ASAP?
If you aren't a RB or OL or defensive player, then UGA isn't the school for you, & their is probably a much better place for you to get developed for the NFL and to win championships and put up stats.
Kirby is gonna start losing all of his opportunities with these big time WRs/TEs if we keep running this offense and losing.
Smith likely will go to Clemson, as most everyone expected that to be a done deal when he got the offer. If UGA lands Theo, or DW, or both, that will be a great haul. I do wonder how much different Bama’s offense will look next year, without Tua. I imagine it will again be much more closely resembling UGA’s, than what the past 3 Bama offenses have looked like.
Ridley and Mecole jumped ship to get paid, just like Andrew Thomas, Swift and others will do after this season.
I will start worrying about Kirby losing all these recruiting opportunities once this staff forgets how to recruit. Until then, I see no sense in crying about “what if’s”.
Or... we developed WRs well enough to leave early and have success in their rookie seasons. These kids want to get paid. We have been getting our boys paid.
I'm glad none of you negative Nancies are on the recruiting trail for us. Last I checked, the message our guys have been delivering has been well received at a pretty remarkable clip. Can't get them all, but we're getting more than our fair share.
