Gilbert hurts imo. Position of immense need, local player, and it seemed like we led at one point (even if it was a bit ago). We lost him to a team that wasn’t really on his radar until recently.
I know we are banking on DW, who looks legit and we hopefully lead for. But with his recruitment going the distance, and him being from about as far away as possible, I’m a little more pessimistic than others. Let’s hope we get him because we need enforcements bad
If they continue to get the ball out quickly it will negate their average OL.
Gilbert does hurt, I hate losing the great locals.
Big if. We've seen this sort of movie before. A high octane, fast paced offense is invincible until it isn't. It would be impressive if they break that mold.
I'm no expert on LSU offensive line but Mack is correct. If the oline is weak, no scheme can save them.
But that would surprise me if they're recruiting that bad at oline.
I dont mind the pick by Gilbert to LSU, for a few reasons. 1) Its not Bama or Clemson, who are pretty close driving distance for his family and him. This could create a homesick transfer portal situation for him if he isnt hitting the field early and often next season ,if he sticks to LSU. Which leads me into point 2), could this keep the door open slightly for an Adam Anderson type flip back to the home state ? That early commit was unexpected as well.
What are the odds LSU’s OC doesn’t jump back to the pros? If the offense stays this high powered, that coach isn’t staying all of AG’s 3-4 years
If our passing game was more dynamic...… maybe?
If Gilbert does flip, I would expect Bama
Both of Terrence Edwards guys go to LSU.
What happened to the Pro Style Offense being a recruiting advantage for developing players for the pros vs these spread offenses that put up numbers but don’t translate to the pro game.
He coaches alot of guys, Justin Robinson (UGA commit) being 1. Has also had some guys going to Notre Dame as well in next years class. It happens
What happened? Invitational camps...
Kids are coming out of HS ready to play at a high level and are capable of more.
Also the current offenses killing it are hybrid.
A lot of NFL teams don’t run a true Pro-Style offense. Lots of spread and air raid concepts are implemented in NFL offenses now.
UGA running 2010 Bama in 2019
I had hoped, and still hope, that Coley would update or make similar adjustments to open up the offense, particularly since Jimbo wanted him as his OC. The Brady hire has paid off big time and fast for LSU.
