Saw on Twitter where some people were calling Mike out about something he said that involved a player’s mom? Was this written or on the podcast?

You know, nowadays I’ve learned that society tends to be too touchy and sensitive. Things get said and someone either takes it the wrong way, or twists it.

No idea what was said/written, but I’m going to reserve judgment until I read/hear it myself. That’s the fair thing to do.

So back to mom's tweet. Mike reported it, was not his tweet. Do we blame Mike? Well, he has choices as to what he reports. But adhering to Mom's tweet could be best for all. Lots of top tier players want in at UGA. Neither player nor UGA needs the bad looks.

I went and actually listened to the specific portion of the show. If Mrs. Holloman actually said what he claims, then he was right, in my opinion, for calling her out on it. Instead of recommending your pot-smoking child go to a school where it’s not treated so harshly, why not have them realize it’s against the law to do it?!? This is what happens when parents are their kids’ friends and not their parents. When your kid gets out in the real world, society and the courts are not going to coddle your child.

Onieda Holloman is a VERY nice lady...very sweet. But, she sometimes does what many of us do....jump to conclusions with very limited information. She was on Jussie Smollett’s side early on, BEFORE all the facts came in. It’s easy to do that. But she forgets that....and she did not sign up for this, it just happened...a lot of people look up to her and hinge so much on everything she says. Consequently, that’s a big burden to bear. Because she said this one emotionally driven tweet, many people have become upset and a negative light has been cast on Georgia and Athens Police, when the true blame lies on the kids who broke the law.

Please note that the law itself is another matter entirely. If the law is bad, for whatever reasons, ten it should be changed. But until then, the law has to be abided by and enforced.

Very well said. When I first saw the tweet I was surprised. I don't know if she was frustrated or what when she sent that tweet out. She stated she had been calling the ACCPD about why that amount of pot was an arrestable offense and not just a citation. She couldn't get anyone to talk to her about it. My opinion is that caused her frustration and then the tweet.

Usually her tweets are very uplifting, encouraging, and supportive of UGA and the athletes.

Something I don't understand. We spent YEARS telling everyone how bad cigarettes are for them, millions of $ trying to get them to quit, sued every cigarette company that ever did business, but we want to legalize marijuana.

Am I the only one that sees the irony?

I can’t understand how elite athletes stay elite by smoking weed. One thing for recreational use by others but another when you are training to be the best with endurance.

It has been proven that tobacco causes cancer and more than likely enhanced by the added chemicals. Long term studies an marijuana have yet to prove any results that come close to tobacco, and actually may help to reduce the risk.

I’m assuming you mean the bad for your lungs aspect of smoking anything? There’s certainly a concern there...but currently at least, pot doesn’t have all the additives that cigarettes do...plus the fact that nicotine itself is bad for your body in a whole in a number of ways in addition to being incredibly addictive.

That being said, smoking ANYTHING is not great for you but the average cig smoker smokes a lot more tobacco daily than even the most ardent stoner smokes marijuana. And there are alternative ways to consume pot in edibles, vaporizers, water pipes, etc.

But yeah, even as someone who’s pro legalization I’ll admit that they need to do more studies on the effects of smoking it on your lungs. AND if it does get legalized hopefully it will be regulated in a way that prevents big companies from adulterating/altering it for profit the way tobacco companies put everything from asbestos to formeldahyde in cigarettes.

Cigarette companies hid their scientific findings regarding the damage their products were doing. They also were actively trying to find ways to add addictive chemicals to their product. That’s why they were sued. Still, they’re legal to this day so I’m not sure the comparison you’re trying to make.

Marijuana and cbd have anti inflammatory effects. I imagine it probably does more to enhance than detract from performance (I’m talking about effects of training, not actually getting high during a game).

Insects are a huge economic nuisance to marijuana farmers. What kind of stuff do you think the people growing illegal marijuana might have sprayed on their crop to prevent bugs. That’s what I would be worried about when smoking the stuff.

Does anybody know if cbd oil shows up in a drug test? My husband has a herniated disk on T-7. He goes to a pain clinic monthly but we would love to get away from the pills. He gets steroid shots quarterly but they last less than 2 months and run his sugar up to 500 for a few days after the shots. We are at the point we are willing to try surgery when we get our deductible met.

cbd is legal everywhere. you probably have a store in your local city that sells it.

drug tests look for thc, if they even test for it all. and there are even different levels to that.

whether or not cbd will help him is a different story. it is not some cure all.

As long as it's legit CBD...ie..not synthetic or actually containing THC(you'd be surprised from what I've seen) from hemp then it shouldn't show up as the tests are specifically looking for THC.

I haven't really tried it for pain but I actually got my 70 year old mom to try CBD lotion on her arthritic hands...it's some pricey brand that they sell at the swanky places apparently lol. She says she thinks it helps but I'd sent her some pro-CBD studies so it might have convinced her lol. Let me know if it works for his back..that's rough!
