UGA/FL tickets

ZAndrews1402ZAndrews1402 Posts: 2 ✭ Freshman

Random question, hopefully someone can give advice/insight. My wife surprised me (and my buddies) with UGA/Swampthing tickets this year (my first time going) and I'm super pumped...until I just found out today the seating chart came out and we are on the bad guys side...

How screwed am I? I hear their fans can be absolute jerks and I'm not trying to get drinks thrown on my buddies and pick a fight when we hand them the butt whoopin they deserve. Thanks!

You mean halfway through the game.

ZAndrews, I go a lot and try to sit on the UGA side. Most of the fans on both sides are very nice, but there are some really obnoxious exceptions. I just looked and the tix on Stubhub are about 2-3X more expensive than what I usually pay. I might try to sell the tickets if you could do it for a profit and then wait to get closer to the game. If either team loses, the prices will come down. Worst case, you would be buying a cheaper ticket on the Gator side, assuming they lose. If they ended up being great and both teams were undefeated, the prices would be untouchable, and you and your wife might hate me for the rest of your lives, but I don't see the Gators running the table with TN and AU at home, followed by LSU and SC on the road before us. I would only sell them for a profit, though. Also, check your ticket because they swap sides every year. I think we are on the East side this year.

@PerroGrande Well this is a guys trip that my wife organized and surprised me with so I would be asking my buddies to sell their tickets. And we bought them off StubHub before the sides were really announced. So us being rookies, we bought them and hoped for the good guy side. I double checked today when I saw the seating chart was tweeted out and my luck we will be covered in blue and orange. But hopefully like @Mia_Dade06 said we will get good neighbors and then most of them will be clearing out early in the game for it to matter!

Could be the most fun you'll ever have. I was at the UGA/UTk "Hobnail Boot" game sitting on the 40 10 rows up in the middle of a sea of orange. Just a sprinkling of UGA fans in that section. We came back and won that game and it was fantastic. Never had a problem except some ribbing when they went ahead. We had the last ribbing though....

Been to several games in Jax and never saw more violence than at other events involving this much alcohol. Never sat with Gators. Tailgating last year the Gator party next to us went out of their way to share.

Come to think of it, back in Gators best years me and a Georgia bud were surrounded by Gator tailgaters and I remember zero problems.

One way to look at it is U and Ur buds are going enjoy the game, not go out of your way to cause trouble, but if they bring it to you..... UGA football is on a very short list of things worth fighting for.

Jacks police can be a problem. About 1982 they were swinging clubs to keep us off the field. They were protecting goal posts and me and a bud were one of the first to break onto the field by jumping a small fence near the fifty.

About 2008 the police tackled my friend in a parking lot before the game and he did his best to keep track of the game from jail.

Why can't ya'll just learn how to fight? Kidding. I've never had a problem sitting in uf section. FWIW, the worst fans I have experienced were Ga fans in Knoxville when Pig Jackson fumbled into the end zone to lose the game for ut in overtime. We had about 8-10 Ga fans behind us that were extremely obnoxious and rude to elderly and youngsters. It was embarrassing, but luckily the police escorted them out.

The most violent fans were in Tuscaloosa in '07 when Stafford hit M. Henderson in the end zone in overtime. We needed helmets with all of the debri that was thrown at us.

Bottom line, I guess, is that there are dikk$ in every fan base.

Do not worry about Gator Fans! Half of them will not be in the stadium at half time!
