Just trying to get out my worry wart concerns. This can become a problem if Tennessee/Auburn have too many key Georiga High school recruits. Tenn does not have a National recruiting base, and Auburn’s base is weak nationally. If UGA ever locks down the state or chooses the close Georgia players over out of state players, then Tennessee and Auburn will literally dry up. One or two players here or there are manageable, but the one or two (Tank, BJ, ?) that have went out of state recently will be the alpha dawg leaders at our rivals and I am not sure that Tenn or Auburn would have recruited anyone half as good I If we could have kept them home. While UGA recruits nationally to compete against Alabama and Clemson, We are also giving Tenn/Auburn ammunition to become bigger Upset threats.
Ok, now that I have gotten it all off my chest, I think Kirby is calculating all of these factors and that the Dawgs are in Great Shape! Excited about this class and the ones to come.
Downvotes are nothing to fret. It's the rubber chickens that you got to watch out for
Auburn and Tennessee are not what we are competing against when you look at it from a bird’s eye view. We have to keep up with Clemson and Bama. That doesn’t mean the other teams won’t have big seasons and upset us (or Bama) from time to time, but year in and year out, we want to compete with the best. We have to worry about getting the best players, not about rivals getting really good players.
I'm not saying sign him - just said hope we don't rue the day. I'm fairly clear on how it all works.
Yep. It's fun. I've never understood the down vote - but some on here can't get enough of doing it.
Maybe 2020 we win a natty and UT finally wins Tennessee. Vandy's the one who should be worried! 🤣🤣🤣
Also, I believe there are two LB's in Georgia for 21 that we are heavily after. There's always going to be Georgia boys we go after.
Rich man problems. Stop the worrying. Kirby is taking whoever he wants right now throughout the country. Georgia is an extremely talent rich state and if UGA decided to fill their entire classes with just Ga kids there would still be too many blue chips to sign. Kids are going to go elsewhere. If we believe a kid in LA, SC, or CA is better than a blue chipper here we will take the best player.!kirby gets who he wants guys.
just getting around to this thread. Can someone recap the first 496 pages real quick?
We’re just killing time waiting for a RINGO update!!
Kirby Smart’s job is to sign as many players as he can that will help UGA succeed on the field, will perform in the classroom, and will represent the University and their families well. Period. If those kids are all in Georgia, that’s where he’ll focus. If they’re in other states, that’s where he’s going. If he’s doing that, succeeding on the field, and putting kids in the NFL, do you really think Georgia kids are going to turn down an offer from Smart and Georgia because he didn’t sign Georgia kids last cycle?
It's like the title, Next to Commit 2020 states. Lots of opinion and insider stuff. A few nites ago it turned into the Next To Be Committed by 2020 though
I personally would not have wanted to stop recruiting anyone for him but has it not been well reported since the Cox departure that he became a take and we were pushing hard for him in the end? If that’s the case they must have wanted to “kick someone out” or “stop recruiting someone” to fit him in and I never question staff even if I personally have different thoughts. I might just be misinformed since I have not followed as closely since the departure of SoFl dawg but that’s what Rusty has been pushing and he’s as plugged in as it gets.
Yes UGA was very active with BJ since the Cox departure. No inside info but of i had to bet, id say they were asking him to hold of and give them some more time. That way they could see how the rest of their prospects on the “big board” were lining up and go from there.
Last week LSU was the “team to beat” but Tenn, who has a good recruiting staff went full press (and id bet sold immediate playing time as well) here and got the commitment. As Jeff said, he also wanted to create his own path as well though.
(Also didnt hurt he has a teammate there already and another committed).
The speculation is a class of 23is right now. If we could get a full 25, id think BJ might of got more love early on and would already be part of this class. (Jeff also mentioned, it may be 2 -3 years before BJ could press the 2-Deep at OLB.) From recent recruiting, it looks like Kirby wants guys who can push the 2 deep right when they arrive on campus. (This is excluding OLine and Dline, in some spots, as thats a grown mans game in the SEC)
Question, do you think Kirby would change his board due to a player that couldn't make the 2 deep transferring?
