Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

You are right it’s an assumption and I don’t know. Just a gut feeling. Maybe right or maybe wrong. Just have to believe that somewhere is our country there is a top 50 kid that doesn’t run when it doesn’t go their way.
@EvilSamPittman I give you full permission to make comments outside of this one thread. Please share all your thoughts about other aspects on this board. We’d love to hear them.
This is for those next to commit

Well to get us back on topic, Arian Smith got a crystal ball to Bama.
I know a lot of people on this board love him, and his speed.
Bryce Young effect. Kid is a baller.
I've been saying for a while that he really reminds me of those clones they have at Bama. We have players that represent our system, possession receivers and slot guys. I would be surprised for him to be a Dawg.
Yeah Tua’s younger brother isn't what he is either. Going to be interesting to watch who they process out and flip now that they have an alpha signal caller committed. I’d anticipate this being impactful for Gilbert as well.
Yah no way any team could ever be successful in this era without a mobile QB except of course the patriots, saints, falcons, rams, Vikings, and chargers /s
Seriously who’s the last “mobile” QB to win i super bowl? (foles doesn’t count) Russ was the first since steve young. Mobility has never been a requirement when drafting QBs. The only benchmark fromm doesn’t meet is height, and he’s big enough that not that many people will care. Also bigger than tua
So was Burch in Athens this weekend or not? Thought I saw conflicting messages from Jeff and SoFl.. just curious if anyone is able to clear it up
@SwimDawg Jeff confirmed this morning that his source was wrong and JB was NOT in the Classic City.
Yes, I think SoFL confirmed it earlier but I haven't seen the report you're referencing from Sentell.
Edit: Nevermind, saw the update.
Arian Smith REAL talk:
losing a player of his quality and SPEED will hurt BIG time.
Especially losing him to either Clemson or Bama. The two teams we are trying to beat.
I can't help but feel bittersweet watching Mecole with the Chiefs.
He was a weapon that we didn't take advantage of.
The more success he has the more concerned I am.
If we get a guy like Mecole in Arian Smith, are we just gonna let him waste away because he isn't our best blocker or whatever excuse you can think of.
Imagine Mecole in Bama/Clemson/Oklahoma's offenses from 2016-2018.
I'm not saying we should have thrown to mecole 10 times a game, but we should have taken more shots with him. Our run game makes it so easy for WRs yet we ignore that, and wonder why teams come back on us.
I know we have a different guy calling plays this year and from here on out, and we also don't have a Mecole/Arian Smith type player on this team, but we aren't doing ourselves any favors.
Wasn't D-Rob supposed to be the Mecole replacement this year?
I was going to be at that game to watch Burch too, but I got Braves playoff tickets instead.
Ouch. I imagine you gave this person your interview listening face
Good point about the outs...but just from watching deep throws being off it may not be arm strength but possible just deep accuracy? Maybe he doesn’t get the deep reps with his receivers and it’s always been a timing issue but more times than not it seems to be under-thrown deep,
I know there's been lots of talk of transfer QBs but do you ever think maybe CKS would bring in a guy like Joey Gatewood? He isn't the type of QB we've had in the past and some may say he's QB2 at au, but I can't help but feel the guy got beat out because of Bo Nix's name and potential. 6'5 230, huge arm and capable in my opinion, similar to Jfields.
Id suspect he would have to sit out a year
Remember we hired a first time HC and Mecole was here during his first three years. I believe Kirby is learning and growing and will moderate his position on the offensive side of the ball. Before this year is out, Kirby will open the offense up a bit more. I think he's going to have to do so if he wants to beat the good teams in the SECC and the CFP. And he will have to if he wants to keep recruiting Mecoles or Smiths. He will have to show it this season I believe to continue to recruit well on offense in general.
Yeah but who even knows these days. Maybe you're right though, he isn't high-profile enough for instant eligibility
