ATHENS — If Kirby Smart could script a championship season, it may not look too different than what his Bulldogs have accomplished through five games. Depth Depth Depth.  Aside from QB, is there a position on the team where losing a player to 4 to 6 weeks would equal a big dropoff in talent?  If Swift goes down, you have Zeus, Harrien, Cook, to pick up the slack.  If Cager goes down, there is depth, there.  Have already had some attrition on the O-line and D line.  But the depth has paid dividends.  Kirby is on the mark with recruiting.  I fear for Fromm, though.  I'm sure Bennett is a good QB.  But there would be a BIG drop off if Fromm went down.  Teams would stack the box and make Bennett beat them.  He probably couldn't beat many, unfortunately.

There is a big dropoff behind Jordan Davis. But that is the only position other than Fromm where that exists.

Both of Tennessee's tailbacks averaged over 5 yards a carry. Texas and LSU gave us fits without Davis in the running game. We should be fine against S Car and Kentucky. But we will need Davis healthy for the Nov/Dec/Jan push.

Mike, is it just me? Or do other folks realize UGA starts every season knowing, if everything goes as planned during the 12-game regular season, they likely must defeat THREE of college football's most elite teams to win NC? If Dawgs are lucky enough to win SEC East, they must first beat Bama in SEC Championship...

Percentages say an SECC win would propel an undefeated UGA to #1 CFP seed, where they would play #4 seed (that's right, Alabama AGAIN!). The committee simply won't leave a 1-loss Bama out (2017 is the precedent here). And the only spot they can put Tide is #4, opposite UGA. This leaves Clemson vs. Ohio St or Oklahoma in the #2 vs. #3 matchup.

So, if UGA would somehow manage to beat Bama TWICE, they would then face (most likely) Clemson in NC game. This seems to be a tougher road to hoe than other elite schools, as Clemson, OSU and OU all have weaker conf championship games. I'm not complaining, mind you. Just an observation.
