- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

hahahaha I think This post sums up our board perfectly over the last few weeks
LG1 on TOS seems to be predicting Arik Gilbert to Dawgs.
I just don't see it. Supposedly one of reasons AG wanted to wait was to see how teams used their TEs in season - if there has been a worse team in all the Power 5 conferences on using TEs I would like to know who that would be?
There is nothing in the UGA offense RIGHT NOW for TEs - maybe when Fromm leaves that will change but it's not changing right now.
Even WRs aren't productive right now. I LOVE AG and have been steadfast in saying he is BY FAR better than Darnell Washington and Theo Johnson - but I believe it most likely AG commits to the TIDE tomorrow.
Hope I'm wrong and you and LG1 are correct.
Bama’s top 2 tight ends have 13 receptions for 141 yards this year
Georgia’s top 2 have 13 receptions for 131 yards
I don't see much difference....
Some P5 teams don’t use a TE at all.
So we are ahead of them.
Remember @dgd829 . We do not want to be a team that doesn't use the TE.
Repeat after me.... TEs are good. TEs are good. 11 and 12 personnel is good. Too much 10 personnel is no bueno.
Repeat 20 times and report back.
And when Tua leaves after this season, I would assume that Bama would be more of a run heavy team and the TE would get less looks in that offense.
Not just Tua. But three of the four WRs that make up the best 4 WRs on one team in the history of college football.
I like 11, 21
12 has not been effective this season.
If we can be more effective, then I'm all for it!
difference being Bama has shown production w/ Irv Smith and OJ Howard very recently. Dawgs had 5-star Isaac Nauta who was an afterthought.
I'll agree that Georgia's use of TEs this year hasn't been great.
When you have a chance - go watch LSU against Miss St.
Look at their tight bunch formations. All players are inside the hashes and really closer than that. See how explosive that is - both running and throwing.
You want to spread everything out to open things up. That works and has it's place. Not arguing that.
But see how it opens things up when you bring everyone in. See how much green grass is available?
I will go check it out.
whatever we do, we have to have better execution
I assume his usage is the reason he was a seventh round pick and only made the Lions' practice squad?
Give me two tights in 12 personnel every day that ends in y. Especially if they are athletes that like to get their hands dirty, too.
Balance out the front. Keep the defense honest with its looks.
Give me two TEs like AG, DW, or TJ? When they can be a plus asset in the run and the throw game?
Game over. Especially with all the pieces that a UGA-type offense could then place around them. I'm sure that's too old school and not Lincoln Riley or Ryan Day enough for most folks.
But it would be game over.
Completely agree Jeff. Defensive coordinators fear big, athletic TEs that can block and catch. Play tight or flex.
And having 2 is a nightmare.
Why is this true?
Because of size: TEs can be big and strong with moderate speed. If they run great routes it is very difficult for defenses to match up a guy that is big enough and athletic enough to properly cover them. Especially if a QB can hit tight windows.
Remember- as long as a TE is athletic enough - he is moving forward and knows where he is going. A defensive player has to be much more athletic because they are moving backwards and don't know where the TE/WR is going - not going to find many big enough and athletic enough to do that.
@JeffSentell did I just make a compelling argument for the importance of Noah Sewell?
Or James Williams , yea I know he’s 2021 no need for the off topic button .
