I think the staff has always believed they have a chance with Burch. The only way that would change would be if he straight up told Clemson no, which he hasn’t.
I think this speaks more to the unpredictability of Burch more so than Clemson’s confidence in landing him. I take this as they think Burch is good enough to wait out for instead of taking Simpson, even if it means potentially missing on both in the end.
In reality, it’s a “first come first serve” kind of situation with Henderson and Smith. They both have committable offers, and could feasibly join the class whenever they wanted. However, from everything I’ve heard, the staff feels far more confident in landing Smith than Henderson. They value Henderson more, but he hasn’t visited since the spring or early summer I don’t believe, and doesn’t have an Official scheduled. If I had to bet, I would say Smith ends up at Clemson and Henderson ends up at Florida.
Chase is graduating in May 2020, and I was told to expect him to test the transfer portal. He loves Clemson, but he’s an NFL talent and will look elsewhere if it means gaining some recognition. I haven’t heard of any specific places he would seek to end up, but UGA would most certainly be near the top of the list. I think LSU would be a fun place for him to end up too.

The only way this day could get any better is if Dexter decommitted just to send them into a spiral. It’d be better if he flipped to us but I’d settle for the decommit.

I would doubt it. I think the gators have shown enough improvement to keep him in the fold, and he would be a clear position of need for them.
I don't see Dexter bailing on UF. And as far as flipping, he hasn't even taken a visit at this point, and doesn't have one scheduled. Seems locked in with Florida.
I sure hope that Todd Hartley and Smart were both on the phone to Darnell Washington and Theo Johnson pointing out that Georgia wants to use them like the Florida TE. The only player that that might have a chance to cover either Darnell Washington or Theo Johnson is someone like Noah Sewell.
Well now that my source doesn’t think he’s going to flip I can share. Dexter was never going to take a OV. He told our staff that if coming to UGA, it would be a ESD flip, and immediately get out of dodge. Daily he was in contact with Fountain, Milton, Carter, and Scott. There was a strong pull over the summer when we heard this chatter as the culture at fu was under attack. Winning truly cures/hides all.
Lake Wales, FL is about ~20 miles SW of Lakeland FL. Central FL is all FU territory. It’s legit the equivalent of being in Athens from a clear identifier of which school dominates the area. Every freaking car, house, even police cars have fu stickers. Walk into the hospital there, there’s a gator memorabilia wall. It’s deep there and obviously a lot of pull to go to fu. Lots of pressure to stay home. Even have a street “gator way“.
Had they flopped this year, he would’ve flipped. Had the starting QB not gotten hurt, yesterday is probably their 3rd loss already and the croot starts to go silent. Kudos to them for making something of this year.
Mullen is an annoying guy but he's over performing like crazy.
He’ll likely have a better shot at playing time at UF than at UGA. That’s not to say he wouldn’t play early at UGA. But UF is losing 5 or 6 guys on defense and I think 6 or 7 guys on offense. I think they lose their Center, Perine, and all of their starting WR’s.
It will be interesting to see what level they’ll be at next year with that many starters leaving.
Don’t know if I’d agree with that. We’re losing a lot after this season. Saw Roch on the field yesterday too. Need an update on his RS availability as I can’t recall how many games that is for him. We don’t have twitchy 3T-5Ts outside of Walker. Carter, Brinson, Burch, Dexter would all have a legit chance to make an impact early. Outside of Logue, pretty confident Norton will over recruited soon. Couple of games he got in this year, kid has cement ankle weights on. There was a play week 2 or 3 where I think Tymon Mitchel looked faster than him on a pursuit play; should never happen.
Dont shoot guys, ijs. I know Norton is loved here. Good news is that I don’t think we lose anyone early to draft based on play this year on DL.

Respectfully, you’re probably wrong here. As a guy who spent like 5 hours reading UF boards last night and this morning, aka an expert, UF knows they don’t have any talent in the interior DLine and that’s where they’d put him. They don’t have any now, and have recruited it really poorly so it isn’t going to change next year. He’d probably start and be an important cog for them immediately.
Whether that is his best position or not is another question, I know you like him more as a 5Tech than 3. Not gonna pretend I have a valuable opinion on that debate. And I have no doubt that he would factor into our rotation early as well, but Id have a hard time believing we would have to rely on him as much as UF would.
It is hard to overstate how important they think he is to their class, fwiw. If you’re confident he sticks there, so be it. BUT they do have a thread talking about him flipping to us right now, so y’all can go read it and laugh like I’ve been doing anyway.
On another note, I was playing with our class calculator earlier today. Didn’t realize how good of a class we are likely to have... gonna easily clear 300.
Fair enough and good points. From a 5T I think he pushes two deep quick here, once they work on getting his pad level down as he plays too high. I agree though, fu stakes step back next year.
That would be an interesting sales job...pointing out how another team uses their TEs rather than how you in fact use them especially when you have a different offensive philosophy and scheme and have given no indication about wanting to change it (quite the opposite in fact).
