ATHENS — When Kirby Smart first got to Georgia, defensive tackle Derrick Brown was maybe his highest priority defensive target for his first signing class. He was a 5-star defensive tackle and the state's No. 1 player in 2016, as he hailed from Buford, Ga. But Smart wasn't able to land Brown, as he ended up signing

Put Cade Mays in front of Brown that should slow him down! Cade is big quick and smart...and plays any slot well! In my opinion. Do not be daunted by Brown or you are defeated before you start. He is very good, I do admit. Brown needs to be slowed down...I think Cade could handle that. That frees up Fromm. Pure speculation.

If there are plays in the playbook where Jake takes a three step drop and gets the ball out quick, this is the game to break them out. The plays we've seen so far that require Jake to stand around waiting for receivers to get downfield after getting jammed on the line will be like throwing a bait fish into a pool of sharks.

Winced when I first heard the nickname "The Great Wall" used in reference to UGA's OL. Still wince when I hear announcers refer to "the best OL in college football." It's difficult to live up to. Love my Dawgs, and I wouldn't trade our guys for the world!

But, at some point, doesn't an O-line deserving of that moniker simply TAKE OVER a game? Consistently gash the D, so Dawg backs run free into the 2nd level? Open up big holes play after play?

I'm struggling to recall a time when this happened. We didn't do it against Mizzou. We pass-pro'd well vs. UF, but didn't run-block particularly well. UK? Nope. South Cackalacky? Certainly not. Tennessee? ND? No. No. Okay, i remember now: the 1st drive vs. Vandy.

Maybe Auburn is the game where our OL straight up road-grades, but I'm not holding my breath. Two excellent D units facing off. Both clubs will struggle to score. Take the UNDER in this matchup. Dawgs must hit some big plays in the pass game, and out-scheme Tigers in the run game. A little mis-direction maybe? And some good ole fashioned road-grading would be nice. Go, you Hairy Dawgs! POUND THE ROCK!!!
