image3 Georgia football takeaways from 21-14 win over Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. — Georgia was in complete control at Auburn through three quarters, up 21-0 and holding an edge in first downs (16-12), total yardage (249-171) and time of possession (22:47-22:13). The fourth quarter flipped, however, and by the end of the night it was all the Bulldogs could do to hold on for a 21-14

” Conservative doesn’t necessarily translate to bad when you have an advantage in talent.”

We won’t have the talent advantage against LSU or in the playoffs.

One game at a time...TAMU is dangerous.

Our players and coaches understand the situation.

    Go, Dawgs!

Whoever keeps statistics may want to recount first downs in this game. I never counted more than 12 Georgia first downs in the entire game.

At some point you're going to have to hit the gas. When you haven't done that before, then what? For a moment Saturday I was having flashbacks to recent Bama games. Anyone relate?

As Coley was coming down from the Box at the stadium. They got hung up and he was standing right next to me, along with Glenn Schumman and Todd Hartley, as they waited for security to walk them down the field. It was the opportune time.... I looked at Coley and we gave each other a fist pump and i said, "Lets get the offense rolling with some deep balls coach.... its now or never!" But think about this for a second. Who is UGAs WR Coach? Why can't we get the WRs developed they way they need to? I thought Robertson would be going off with his speed and talent, yet he is not even a deep ball threat.

UGA fans are just patiently waiting for the offense to take its stride... hope they can figure it out before A&M..... LSU

The last couple of games, Cager has made one catch and got knocked out by the tackle. If he's only gonna be able to make one catch per game, let's save him until we're inside the 30 and get a TD for it. Go Dawgs!

Reminds me of another season we endured without being able to put teams away; winning some games that we could have lost easily (-UT, SC, UF, ND); Strong D with conservative offense - 15 passing attempts PG 54 Rushing APG; A strong kicker........

    The year - 1980.

Kirby says Auburn got hot. Sure did coach when you and Lanning went to a prevent zone. Thier receivers were wide open

My three takeaways based on the writer's topics:

    A Win is a Win

So why can't we develop our receivers? Maybe James Coley isn't the assistant coach we should be looking at. Maybe it's Cortez Hankton, the wide receivers coach. Everyone agrees that our receivers are young, but they are also quite talented. But we don't see that. And our veteran guys (Simmons, Landers) have regressed from their previous years. So maybe Hankton needs to go.

    Bend But Don't Break

We haven't had an interception in 19 quarters, but we've have opportunities. Our guys (Stokes, J. R. Reed) just can't seem to close the deal when the ball is right there for the taking. Guess that's why they're on defense.

    Final Chapter

Our "loaded schedule" wasn't thought to be all that loaded at the beginning of the season. Our toughest games were supposed to be Notre Dame, Florida and Auburn and we were predicted to win all three -- which we did. What absolutely no one predicted was that we wouldn't show up against South Carolina. LSU had a "loaded schedule" and passed every test. We had a so-so schedule and screwed up an open-book exam with a cheat sheet.

And by the way, I don't expect the Dawgs to be perfect (although they should be at this point), I just expect them to win the games they should win so that they, like Alabama, can still be in the conversation should they lose the games they're expected to lose.

I played football when I was young, I was a receiver for a few years, but I am by no means an educated, experienced coach; however, even I can see these receivers are not doing what MUST get done. They must run clean routes, come back to the ball and get some freaking separation. Until they do those things Fromm needs to concentrate his reads more on slants and all short yardage passing plays! Every receiver and TE in each game needs to play like they are the only receiver in the game on every play..."My team needs me to get open and catch this ball". That attitude combined with experience are why Seniors make or break a team. They aren't every looking for a teammate to make the play, they always look at themselves.

Hankton, our receivers coach, should not feel comfortable cashing his checks until after his receivers play better. PERIOD!

ALMOST Bama all over again!!!! Almost! The 4th Qs always come back to bite the Dawgs!???? Malzahn is right...they stuffed the DAWGS in the 4th!! Good thing they had a 21 pt pad against the kittens. I keep the valium handy...kidding. My brother said Penn. State experienced the same thing against Indiana...nail biter....PA State is his team. On to Texas A&M.....another nail biter?? These are all MUST games....Kirby says UGA is TIRED!!!!!!???? Think of Bama following the LSU tilt.....still won handily next game albeit losing their QB for the season. Plenty of other examples around the league!! Please Kirby, keep these comments to yourself. I do not believe they help team morale...though true. IMO! At least next game is at home. Mascot UGA will like his home bed.....lolol. GO DAWGS!
