Georgia football: The most pro-UGA stat to pay attention to with LSU
Has all the stat crunching for Georgia football versus LSU got your head in a tizzy? The Cover 4 guys try to simplify all of it for DawgNation in this edition.

Here's a question for statisticians...how does LSU's D compare when the 1st stringers are in? In other words, is the O so potent that the 1st string D gets taken out when they get a big lead?
I watched most of the Vandy game, but just don't remember if the starters were the reason they gave up 38.
Rush!
Auburn shut down LSU offense in the red zone pretty well. The 23-20 score revealed a weakness in LSU defense but not passing game...321 yds by Burrow. Auburn also sacked Burrow 3 times. Close game. UGA needs to do the same but score more points. Keep Burrow off balance and on the ground. It can be done. LSU does not have a top-rated D. UGA does. The diffference will be in UGA's ability to generate TDs. You have to score to win. GO DAWGS!!!
Don't let the LSU defense fool you. They play down because of the big leads they get. Shut fla out in the 2nd half after the first score the third. Held bama to 13 in the 1st half. Was close against auburn. And most of all held a&m to 7 points. So it's hard to say. Remember, all these writers were predicting ga would run ALL OVER ND's porous defense. Teams you play can effect your stats. Unfortunately, just like Ga's some. Having not played a top 30 offense sure does help. Not saying they are still not real good, just not been really challenged.
BTW- on your question about vandy, I believe they had 2 defensive td's. And I thought they evenhad a special team score, not so sure on that one.
Go Dawgs
DAWGNATION, quit feeding us the Kool-aide! we all get our hopes up and then we get beat. I read all of this stuff and I feel like we could beat the Patriots! It makes a loss so much worse. Play the Vince Dooley MO - everybody is better than us and we always look good!
I'm going with this stat from DawgStats on Twitter:
CKS saying "he's never seen an offense like this" is not encouraging!
That's a very good point. I have a sneeking suspicion the LSU D is much better than their stats suggest. Not to mention, Orgeron said the defense is coming into its own these last few games. Ugh, I no longer feel confident.
Common sense (something there's not very much of these days) tells me that our athletes are as good or better than theirs in most areas. They have an advantage in couple of areas, us in others. Not quite sure why everyone thinks that LSU is some unbeatable juggernaut. I don't think our guys are going out on that field thinking that being there is enough.
These are all great stats and we will need each and every one to pull of the upset!
Man, I didn't mean to dunk your doughnut...win or lose, 48 hours from now it should be over anyway.
Actually, I was hoping someone could show that LSU's 1st string D really isn't that good.
Honestly, I don't think LSU is any better than the Bama teams we've faced the last two years. While our offense may be different, I believe our D is better than 2017 or 2018. Murf said a good stat is to look and see who has the most tackles. UGA's tackle leaders are LBs...that means that we're containing teams.
In the NCG, it took the refs to miss about 8-10 big calls that would have changed the outcome (no, I don't have sour grapes, it's just a fact that ALL of those calls was in Bama's favor...yes, that includes the unsportsmanlike conduct on Fromm getting pushed to the floor). I mean Saban was coming unhinged.
And last year, we were whipping them, but somehow the foot was taken off the gas. In fact, Dabo gave us credit for showing them how to beat Bama.
I'm ready for it to be settled!
Go Dawgs!
