would you not consider him another 5-star recruit even though it is only for one year. Obviously wish Fromm was returning but I think we will be more than okay

He is a running threat and can throw the ball. He definitely takes some of the loss for Jake going to the NFL plus it gives the other QB's time to compete without the pressure.

    Welcome Jamie!

There was never any doubt in my mind that he was going to pick UGA. Look at the facts: He is an intelligent young man, this is The University and the situation he is inheriting is borderline perfect. It was a no-brainer for him. He was the best candidate which is why this will prove to be a mutually beneficial pairing.

If Mr. Newman can mature slightly and learn our offense over the next six months-he will be our starting QB. Regardless, the sky is the limit for whomever is leading our offense in 2020. This will be the most talented team in the history of our program on both sides of the ball. Period.

2020 will be a very special year indeed.

    Go Dawgs! Well done CKS!

    Welcome to the family!

    question:

which is a steeper learning curve, learning the playbook or learning to read opposing defenses?

He ran for 574 yds at WF and only 167 of those were scrambles, plus ran for 6 TDs.....music to our ears! He passed for nearly 3,000 thousand yds. and 26 TDs..few interceptions....is the music getting louder!!!! He is a very good leader.. now so loud need ear muffs!!!

Welcome to the UGA, Jamie!!! As even former UGA head coach Mark Richt exclaimed: GO DAWGS!!! Amen!

PS...Thank you big time, Coach Smart!!!! You got right on this one as usual and scored again!!!

In addition to immediately upgrading the QB position, by bringing in Newman, CKS has knocked out two more birds with one stone. First, it puts the Dawgs squarely in the top 4-5 teams and the CFP hunt for 2020. Secondly, it solidifies Georgia in the race for Caleb Williams the #1 dual threat QB for 2021 especially if Coley is able to have success with Newman.

This move could keep the Dawgs solidly in the mix for the SEC & CFP thru 2023 at a minimum.

    Go DAWGS!!!

I agree on Caleb Williams for 2021 QB recruit. He is a dynamo. UGA will have to perform in 2020 to get him....!

Looks like the sudden demise of the Georgia offense was prematurely reported. Although, I do hope most will continue to hoist Mullen and Florida as the favorite to win the SEC East.

Jamie Newman looks like the right player to follow Fromm, while giving Mathis and Beck a Senior to learn from and a seasoned player to run the offense.

Newman must feel like it's Christmas day, looking at all the skill and talent he'll now have at his disposal.

This will be a great opportunity for OC Coley. Many have criticized his first UGA offense, and I get that, but it's hard to run an offense with no receiver depth, and so many going down with injury. Coley won't have that problem next season.

Fromm has an uncanny ability to read defenses.....from, what I read Newman has that ability. He can learn the playbook ...this young man is a quick study. Plus, Newman has solid college experience that revealed his remarkable abilities. That is what is needed for 2020...an experienced pilot that can direct the much-improved offense to repeated victorious touchdowns!!! c

Carson and D'Wan....learn from this experienced successful college QB...he will be here only i year....then it is your turn or maybe even earlier.

Meanwhile back in Gainesville, the tiny bit of space in Mullen's brain that is not occupied by Kirby is trying to figure out what happened to all the love his Gators were getting and how to get brown stains out of his orange underware.
