When we'd go to Athens for a tailgate, the "before" was usually, well more. The after depended on a few factors. 1) Did we win 2) Do I have to drive 3) How much did I drink before the game.
Now when I was at school in Athens we started drinking the night before, woke-up, headed out to where we were tailgating, drank until right before kickoff, baked in the student section through the game. Headed back to Rivermill. Drank more. If we won, we drank a lot more, no matter what we always made plans for going out and meeting up with friends that night to continue the party, right after a short nap. (famous last words)
...if we woke-up, order Dominos drank whatever beer we had around, while watching whatever game was on TV, then went to bed. On Sunday we were often promising God never to drink that much again.
PS Does anyone remember that cheap beer you could by in the bottle, that paid a deposit?
Years pass. People get older. We're getting older too.
Ah. An OT and a DV for this. Means at least 2 people here don't understand sarcasm without it being pointed out to them or they're bugs. 🙄
I was all SEC 1st team drinking team from 06 to 08. Now I'm the one who goes downtown on gamedays just to get nostalgic. My how life changes
I would’ve high fived you for that! What’s wrong with her!!
As I am now entering my 50th year of imbibing alcohol I have learned that, on game day, I will not touch my truck, suv or boat keys, nor shall I operate power tools which have sharp blades. The Golf Cart is another story.
before and after......yes
Yes
How does someone OT this post. I though the title said Drinking before and after the game. ???
Back in the late 80s Russell Hell days we would buy Drury’s beer by the case in a box. You could return the bottles to ABC to get some money back. It was horrible beer, but it ended up costing 7 or 8 bucks.
LOL. I resemble your remarks. And I spent a year at River Mill. Good times.
THANK YOU.
I could not remember the name of that beer to save my life. I must have blanked it out of memory. We actually collected the cases of bottles around the apartment as a kind of hardship layaway plan. Then we'd use the cases and go buy more.
I've got mixed opinions on this topic. I personally don't drink, but I don't have an issue with those who do. I love the atmosphere of a night game at Sanford with 90k+ lubed up and festive fans and all the energy it brings. I've also witnessed more than a few embarrassingly inebriated dawgs making a complete a$$ of themselves both home and away. If I can borrow a phrase from the 80's, "know when to say when", and never drive under the influence. Basically, be an adult. We all work hard during the week, gameday isn't an excuse for throwing all social decorum out the window.
No doubt it will make an a** out of you. ...or so I've heard. 😇
