Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Gotta tell you. For an immigrant, you have it down. By the powers (not) invested in me, I pronounce you a real Texan. BTW I went to school at what is now Texas St but then SW Texas. Lived in Wimberly. Very different now vs then, but "my kind" were not popular in Wimberly at that time 😎.
Also gotta add check out chicken fried steak while you're there.
Yes.....Dead Man Walk, commanche moon the streets of Laredo.
.Also have to disagree about taking "I" anything. Stay on state highways. Enjoy Texas. Can't do that from an interstate.
Well.....I have been in Texas since 74. 45 of my 52 years.
What year did you graduate from Texas St?
!971 But if you've been there that long you don't need my endorsement. (not that it carried any value).
I thought it wasn't quite as good as Lonesome Dove but it was a good ending to the story.
Fine point. Didn't graduate from Texas St.. Graduated from SWT. Alma Mater of LBJ. Just BTW
Great point.... and agree. Instead ... from San Antonio go through Helotes to Bandera (real cowboy town) to Kerrville. Home of Johnny Manziel and our new kicker Jared Zerkek.
From Kerrville head to Fredericksburg. Everything else stays the same.
@pocoyo @texdawg ... thanks for the info .... bout 10 yrs ago traveled almost that exact itinerary ... hung out in Luckenbach ... really cool
Right out of UGA in 84 my first job was in Corpus ... lived there 2.5 years and became immersed in TX culture and fell in love with the State and people ...also spent the summer of 83 working an internship in Stephenville .. then for the next 20 years made a business hunting trip to Llano every Nov ...so this thread brought so many great memories thanks to all
Book recommendation- Empire of the Summer Moon ....it’s about Quannah Parker and the end of the Commanche nation
Flew out to Texas Ga/fl weekend to watch the game with my dad. The hate really does travel. Didn’t really have any doubt though.
1st long driving trip at 16 years old to Texas. Got scary mid trip
1st time on a plane was to Texas
1st car I bought Was in Texas. Left UGA in a Toyota Celica. Used a cut off wooden handle of some sort as a cruise control. Came back in an S-10 Blazer
1st experience with calf fries in Texas. Lol didn’t eat them. Found out what they were just in time
Enjoy it out there. Need to go more than I do. My dad will be 73 this year
edit: thanks Tex for this thread, brought back memories
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely read it.
Now you really done it. I got to tart planning. Thanks for sharing. Go Dawgs!
Me, too. Left a year ago for a better practice situation, but I'd definitely come back for the right opportunity.
Don't forget the Alma mater of George Strait.
It'll always be SWT to me...and "Lady Bird Lake" in Austin will always be Town Lake!
