How Kirby Smart can improve his national reputation when football resumes
The national media clearly think Kirby Smart is a pretty good coach. But they also think there's a good bit of room for improvement from the leader of the Georgia Bulldogs. Three national media members — Stewart Mandel and Bruce Feldman of the Athletic and Ralph Russo of the AP — put out their lists of the top 25

Let's let Kirby's team do the talking in the fall...ok? The national media "pundits" have little bearing on Georgia football. Kirby is doing just fine. QB prospect Jamie Newman continues to hone his many skills even during this down time. Kid is driven. Nolan Smith as well. There are questions with every coach in NCAA football. Coach Smart has set the bar very high because that is the kind of coach he is! That is also the quality of coach UGA needs! Come fall, if this crazy virus thing is diminished, he will again prove himself worthy of his office and role...as head coach of one of the nation's elite football programs. Be safe everyone!!!!!!! And....GO DAWGS!!!
..."but questions linger about his game management..."
This has to be the most over played commentary in the Smart era. Let me give Conner an example of why this comment about Kirby Smart is without merit. Dan Mullen is a media darling, he's suppose to be a brilliant coach doing more with less. What's the head-to-head record between Kirby Smart and Dan Mullen?
I rest my case!
You don't consistently beat great coaches by being a poor game day manager. Yes, Kirby Smart has taken some chances that haven't worked out, but look at Les "Riverboat Gambler" Miles as a comparison. Les has taken a lot more chances that have backfired on the field than Kirby. What Les has that Kirby doesn't is a National Championship. Kirby has overhauled his offense and brought in Scott Cochran, proving that he's adapting and doing what it takes to move the program forward.
MaddDawg… the biggest thing Clemson has that Georgia doesn't have is a cream puff schedule, year in and year out. Not taking anything away from Clemson, who has kept the peddle to the medal and beaten teams they were supposed to beat (which Georgia hasn't done)... but having a tailwind helps.
UGA is on a very similar trajectory as Clemson. Clemson's coaching staff has been very consistent over the years and UGA has had the better of them more times than not. What changed at Clemson is the same thing that changed at Georgia - THE MONEY spent on the program - which lead to recruiting tons of elite athletes. Only since Clemson starting spending huge did they starting winning huge. Only when Georgia started spending huge did they start to look like a championship contender. The only difference is that Clemson has done remarkably well in recruiting the QB position. Hopefully, with Jamie Newman on board, we too, will reach the ultimate goal.
The 2017 team set the bar very high indeed. The last couple seasons have been a bit disappointing in comparison to that, but Kirby still has this team playing at a historically high level. I was pleasantly surprised by the offensive overhaul after this season - showed me that Kirby is willing to do what it takes to keep improving, and continues to grow as a head coach. It may take a couple seasons for this to bear fruit, however; especially in light of current events and the lack of practice time to implement these changes in time for the season.
Golly, Gee ****, The Tide hasn't been succesful the last two seasons either have they! Clemson blew past them 2018, and they didn't even make the playoffs 2019. So, let's start this season 0-0 against the Bammer, and see how it goes.
Another dumba$$ article. You guys should just take a leave like some of us have until this virus thing is over bc it's clear there's no story for you all tp write about.
