I'm a huge music fan.....but I have never heard of any of those artists. Not a single one.

I'm obviously not as big a music fan as I thought.

@texdawg - Growing up in So Cal most of the people I knew played a musical instrument and garage bands were everywhere. I played drums and was obsessed with music growing up - still am.

Fast forward in time. I was an early Internet adopter, first getting on the Net in the early 90's when I worked for IBM. In around 1997/1998 I was introduced to WinMX, a global music sharing program. During that period my taste in music radically shifted, because I was exposed to underground music from all over the world (ex. France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Japan to name a few) and had many conversations with people in those countries about new music. I collected thousands of songs, albums and bootleg material. It was a real eye opener, because there was a full blown renaissance going on in music at the time and I was in the middle of it.

What kind of music is it?

I'm really into the Texas alt country music scene and most of the musicians and bands are far from household names.

  • Casanova_FlatulenceCasanova_Flatulence Posts: 3,126 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

It's hard to classify really, because it's known by various names; such as, Chill, Global, Jazztronica etc., but I call it Downtempo. The New Mastersounds and Snarky Puppy are on the Jazz side of the house. I also listen to Hard Rock, Classical, Neo-Psychedelic Rock and Fusion.

If you don't have Spotify I highly recommend it. The Playlists they put together for me are fantastic.

I have spotify and I'm going to do a little casanova music homework tonight.

My wife got me some Bose headphones for Christmas. For some reason I just took them out of the box on Tuesday. All I can say is wow....incredible sound.

  • Casanova_FlatulenceCasanova_Flatulence Posts: 3,126 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

I want to get some audiophile headphones, however it sounds like you're happy with Bose.

Right now I'm listening to a Spotify Channel called Neo-Psychedelic Rock. So far they're hitting the mark. Very interesting tunes. Right now I'm listening to a cool song call "I teleported to Acapulco" by Oresund Space Collection.

Mine too!! She got them for me for our anniversary instead. Best things ever. Only thing I don't like about mine is the headphone part that go over the ears are a rose gold color. Seems girly to me but I didn't dare tell her that.

Some years ago a friend loaned me his Bose headphones when I was traveling overseas. Using the noise cancellation feature during the flight blew my mind. To go from the hum of the aircraft and the din of the passengers to a state of total quiet was just incredible. Fascinating experience. Remember it like yesterday.

I love em. And my wife stuck with black. I like them because they are small. They still go over the ear....not in the ear. But they are about the same size as the ear. Sound is so good.
