This is one area where Kirby may have chosen recruiting over coaching.
What about those short yardage plays, 3rd and 1 , 4th and 1, the goal-line issues? When everyone knows you're going to run? Almost the whole line got drafted. Not to mention the RB. Seems like I remember we struggled on those. Would love to hear your thoughts. Also, there just weren't that many long runs busted open. Just thinking out loud but you would think with that level of talent they could overcome a bad scheme, especially against some of the lesser opponents. I understand we wore teams down and eventually got to them in the 4th quarter. But what a waste of talent IMO. Seems like individually they were better than the collective. Maybe I'm miss remembering. Guess we did alright considering the passing game woes.

Conner, You contradicted yourself. You say UGA had the players on offense to be successful, just not the plays, then you point out the draft showed the dearth of talent at WR. Ummm...WRs are pretty important! We didn’t have the players there. Think about it: Tyler Simmons was a starter, and not even an unstaffed free agent, not ever even mentioned as a possibilty to be one.
Monken will pick up the coaching slack developing WRs. Coach Smart saw this as his opportunity to sort of turn the corner on the sky game as more of an integral part of an option offense. He knows he needs this and is making the adjustments. Monken will strengthen the running game with his aerial attack support. It will be a thing of beauty. This will alter the playbook some as we will see. Players dictate the plays. IMO. If you have the talent and the corresponding plays...you are a winner. That just makes sense. Kirby prefers the run game but now sees the option as a more open versatile offensive game changer. LSU has been developing its option style very effectively. UGA is now set up to really power the SEC. Cannot wait to see it work.
