Georgia NFL roundup: Jake Fromm has $3.5 million deal, Andrew Thomas projected at $32 million
Georgia football players who were selected in the NFL draft or picked up as undrafted free agents are getting their finances in place

"The vast different between the second round and the first round explains why coaches suggest to players they return if they can increase their NFL draft value." If you are in it for the money UGA players...stick it out 4 years. Raise your NFL draft value as high as you can. Then enter the draft. Fromm may have paid the price on that..not saying he did...he may have. Not sure a 4th year would have helped him but it would not have hurt. Thomas, on the other hand, did well entering the draft after his junior year, while undrafted free agents are the lowest pay scale. They can make the practice squad and then suit up for a higher wage. NFL has many wage scale slots. Much to think about. I am not an early draft proponent as it has made chaos of the recruiting process and leaving college early, creating "draft mills" of colleges. Water over the dam. Mixing academia and sports...it becomes very complex. That is why the elite schools tend to produce better quality NFL prospects...recruiting mainly the 4 and 5 star players.
@Timothy1952 It's easy for us to say that someone would have benefited from another year of school when we don't know what their financial situation at present. It's hard to tell a 19 to 21yr kid not to accept a 4yr contract worth $4M when in reality if they stay in school they are not guaranteed a job with a degree. Even that the degree may only net them $50k to $60k annually. You do the math. Even if they stay for their senior year, anything can happen...injury, bad play et al. If they are as smart as we want them to be, they will take the money and finish school during the summer. It is happening more frequently. A win win for all...they can take care of their families and we can still enjoy them on the field at the next level. Go Dawgs!!!
Bottom line is you have to listen to the right people who can properly assist you by telling you which round you can expect to go in. Also, what does the next years QB crop(in Jake's case) look like? A kid would do well to pay an expert to give it to him straight, and not just blow him up about how good he is. Not a time to be overly optimistic. Just the facts.
