imageWhat the national media is saying about Georgia's quarterback position

For months, there was a lot of hype surrounding Georgia quarterback Jamie Newman. He flashed some impressive traits and tools in his time at Wake Forest, and with some improved talent around him at Georgia, many in the national media expected big things to come from the quarterback. Some had tabbed him as Heisman

Here's an interesting question for you guys at dawgnation, what happens if Newman is 1st round, Daniel's is 1st round and Vandagriff is a 1st rounder when they leave UGA? Is he all of a sudden more of a QB whisperer than Mullen?

The top qbs are going to be coming to Georgia with the type of offensive line that we will will be fielding every year. Matt Luke hasn't skipped a beat with the recruiting. Already commitments from several good prospects this year with a couple of more good ones leaning our way. They will have a good running game to keep the defenses honest. Our running back room is stocked with good players and we have a commitment from a top back and we are in the running for another good one. Wide receivers to throw to? We have a lot of good young receivers on the roster and there will be others on the way. Our coaching staff is top notch. We have an offensive coordinator that has pro experience. Our fans are some of the most enthusiastic in college football. Why wouldn't great qbs and other players want to come to Athens?

Newman is the guy in 2020. There is nothing to debate on the subject. JT Daniels is coming off major knee surgery and his numbers his freshman season were not good. He is likely not playing this year and if cleared he is certainly not playing the first half of the season. The other candidates have never started a game in college! I find it laughable that folks are debating this notion that the starting position is up for grabs. The job is Newman's to lose via poor play or injury. Period.

No matter what happens this season, I believe Brock Vandagriff is the franchise QB of this bunch. It will be a very sad day if we lose him. I pray he is not another Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields that UGA lets slip out of our great state.

Yes. Need Elite receivers, though. Elite qb's more likely to sign with a team that has pass catchers rather than droppers. QB can be good enough to be a first rounder, but get taken in the 4th because his receivers dropped 25% of what he threw. UGA need to start winning those receiver battles.
