Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I'm the same way as a softball coach.....we really don't have a choice in encouraging our pitchers to get outside coaching.
Certainly agree that it's been a problem in baseball/softball for years.
I don't necessarily have a problem with the outside instruction......it's the other involvement that concerns me.
A lot of my players get outside training. I would say a majority.
I have never really had a huge issue with it, but I have never had a high D1 kid either. Some of my friends around here have. Some of those kids had an entourage.
Usually, they are ruined by the time they leave high school.
Uncoachable. Bad teammates. End up attending several different colleges, lucky to actually get a degree.
It's sad, really.
Let the kids be kids as long as they are kids.
Isn’t a scholarship somewhat of a contract?
Yeah they are contracts. Are there negotiable terms in them as well as a salary for the players? I understand a few people don't want to like private coaches because of the power some of them have over recruits, but they are not agents. You can just call them influencers and still not like them.
Agree. They are certainly not agents
Very informative. Thanks for sharing your experience. I will certainly look at things differently now.
