Anyone here know classic cars?
I've got an opportunity to get a 72 gran torino that's been restored. Can't seem to find a value on it anywhere online. Found some for 8k and some for 23k from that year. Anyone know what a fair price would be for one in very good to great shape. Has a 429 Cobra jet in it if that helps any.

1st question I ask anyone getting ready to purchase a large collectable anything.
Do you have a good place to keep it?
Lots of variables on condition and how original it is. Hagerty.com is the main insurer for classic cars and has a valuation tool on the website. Good Luck!
Here is a '71 with the 429 CJ. $43k ask.

Have seen 72 Torino Sport with 429 and competition suspension pkg depending on quality of restoration go at 20k and up
Had a ‘72 Gran Torino...Yellow/Gold with a brown landeau top, black vinyl interior, no A/C and a 351 Cleveland! That car was hot as he// in the Dallas summers, but was a blast to drive!
"Just What I Needed" or "Let the Good Times Roll"? Heh, heh!
The value will always depend on if it's a "number matching" car. Whether or not the car has been restored of modified, if the engine, tranny and body have matching numbers, it's going to command a higher value. Not to say a great restoration with non matching numbers wouldn't bring a good value, but the the first thing collectors want to see are matching numbers.
That was the first thing I made sure of. Not going to sit in the drive during the winter here with all the salt we get on the roads. Will be indoors(climate controlled) all winter and good parts of the summer. And the parts of summer it's not indoors it will be when I am driving it. Paying for the space anyway for my semi truck so might as well get the use out of the space I don't use.
That's one of the last two things I have to check out. The other is sell the truck I was driving until May.
Perfect, and got to say I'm envious. No more room at the Inn for any new toys.
Don't jinx me now lol. Gotta get my truck sold first. Had over 40k tied up in it in repairs last year alone and got all of that back in insurance last month. Wife told me I could spend the money from selling it on a dream car since I paid off my new truck on the spot and caught up the debt from last year with a sizable chunk left for repairs on the new one. Fingers crossed I get it sold.
Good luck with the purchase! Keep all suggestions in mind....😉
Definitely will. If( big if on the truck sale) it goes through, I'll post pics when I get it.
Definitely good luck @jc30116! Hemings and Hagerty are great sources.
Another for anyone into cars, but that is probably more fun than authoritative is bringatrailer.com, an auction site. Here’s a quick link to Torino’s that have been up over the last couple years.

Again, good luck!
Thanks for that @GradyDawg85. Got a 15 yr old too that is interested in restoring cars so that may be an option later on for him too.
Don't know classic cars....but I'm pretty good with classic women. I've got a 67' that runs pretty good but could use a little body work.
Haven't looked under the hood in quite awhile but I assume everything is still working.
Don't really know the value but really not interested in trading her in anyway.
