Totally agree. At least give him the opportunity to go deeper.
Big Oz!
He looks to be heating up. That could be bad for the Dodgers.
Yea he's missed some. But one thing I can say from experience is some pitchers have SO much movement, it's harder to CATCH them than hit off of them. (In SOME cases.) Remember Jonny Venters?
I know you played, and I know you know 100 is still brutal even when you know its coming. If you knew where it was going it would be easier, but shoot most dudes who throw 100 dont got any idea where they're throwing it either! Agree BTW, a hard slider late breaking or good changeup are just impossible for hitters. I never saw anyone with a sinker/two seamer that was nasty but i can imagine getting sawed off by those would be easy.
Ronald to me seems like the big guy trying to do too much at times. When the velo is up and you got a couple strikes you HAVE to shorten up and just throw the barrel at the ball. Swings have gotten longer as guys try to hit more homers, just the way the game has gone.
I will say though, we have thrived with HR ball this series and I love it. But undoubtedly the pitching has been our strength which is a huge surprise. Hope this patchwork rotation we got keeps shoving. This series ain't over yet
Well said brother. I'm a private contractor at a junior college in central GA. I work with hitters and catchers. Also do lessons for hs kids from surrounding counties. Every hitter is different. But there are certain universal things that must be consistent. I have no problem with the leg kick because it really creates amazing torque when exploding through the ball. But imo, it shouldn't be a high kick. As little head movement as possible is the goal; same as weight is back to center. I always tell my guys (if they are in a rut) to just try to go up the middle with everything. That makes em stay inside the ball on inside pitches. Which Jeter was the master of. N it just narrows that window of missing timing. And we know timing is everything. Great thing about hitting is no matter how great someone is, baseball will humble the ish out of the very best lol.
I understand, but a bad night is a bad night. That's why I didn't say he suked because even the professionals can have an off night. Just can get frustrating when we, the tv viewing public, know it's wrong.
Oh I absolutely agree brother. I just meant these guys in the bigs are insanely nasty. We only had 6 former big leaguers on my 1st team in the minors. But they were just effortlessly effective. I'd HATE to umpire in the show lol.
Is there anything more wholesome than Freddie waving at his son after he gets a hit?
You live in central GA?
Agree totally. The high leg kick works well when you're seeing the ball and have your timing down, but when you're struggling it can cause a ton of issues. Kind of feast or famine type deal. No problem with a minor kick, everyone has to load somehow and do what they are comfortable with.
You're preaching the right message to your players IMO, stay up the middle and inside of it, keep the swing short when you need to. You veer to far from the fundamentals of hitting and you are asking for trouble.
Yep
One of those things that even HOF'S fail 70% of the time. I've still got the career doubles and career hits records at my HS. But if I could go back one thing I'd definitely do is STOP thinking. It's more mental than physical imo.
Was gonna ask about helping out with my brothers travel teams, but too far. All good.
Really appreciate it brother.
