I don't understand this somewhat constant theme of getting Clemson in the SEC and trading Vandy to ACC. As great as the SEC is, we don't need another elite, tough out. Every conference needs some traditional cupcakes. And we have enough of the elite teams.

On the other hand, I'm all for UGA going to ACC. If the objective is Playoffs & National Championship, there is no doubt the ACC is a much easier road to get there. We'd play 1, maybe 2 tough games a year. Not only does it increase our playoff chances, it also doesn't beat up our team over the course of a year by playing against so many NFL types in the SEC. And if we could trade with Clemson, even better. Then, you have what they have now - a near playoff guarantee!

I'd rather see NC or NCSt join the SEC. Quality southern teams, but not necessarily powerhouses.

GT has beaten Vandy on the regular, and they average beating us about 1 of every 5 years. FSU will improve and become a power again, simply because of who they are. Recruiting will improve, money will come in again, and they'll be winning again. Vandy, however, doesn't care about anything except being 'woke.'

It’s time for Vanderbilt and ND to make a conference for themselves. It’s weird in the midst that ND is playing in the ACC this year. That means they will have to play Clemson for the ACC title right??

How much more revenue does Clemson vs UGA, UF, Tenn, Mizzou, SEC West teams bring in?

    A lot...

Those games are SOLD way TF OUT, and the networks are drooling for those games. The eyeballs on this conference would be insane, and that puts another W in the win column during bowl season.

A little time has passed, but I think UGA gets plenty of tough, big time TV games. What we don't need is Clemson on the schedule to give them more legitimacy (right now, everyone knows they are automatically in playoffs because they don't play anyone), very real potential of another loss, and does nothing to grow the UGA brand beyond the southeast. I'm great with playing good non-con games (went to Arizona St and Colorado), but not necessarily another Top 5 team. I like seeing the rest of the country interact with Georgia football, so I'd rotate non-conference foes with teams like: Texas, Oklahoma, Cal, Nebraska, Michigan, etc.

I'd completely ignore Clemson. Just my opinion.

I’d love to see the SEC add Clemson. I want to play and beat the best year in and year out. I want to see as many top matchups as possible.

that feeling we get as fans the week before games like Bama Florida auburn Norte dame Clemson etc is what it’s all about. Who cares about playing Austin peay or Vanderbilt

it also makes going undefeated that much more special

People need to remember that when a conference brings in a new team or teams, that they want to bring in a team where they can get into a new area, hence A&M and Missouri. Trading out Vanderbilt for a Virginia Tech or Virginia seems a more viable option as the SEC does not have a footprint in that area.

As I understand it, the SEC needs to have a "private non-public school" in it's family.

I think it has to do with privacy and business disclosure laws

If we did dump Vandy we would need to replace with another private school.

We would want one that was willing to invest in ALL their sports programs as well as scholastically.

Vandy has champions in other sports just not football.

They have been feeding at the SEC revenue trough all along.

Anyone know of any private non-public schools that might fit the bill?

  • I'm not saying your wrong but I just don't understand why that would be a stipulation. Who wrote that into the charter? It had to be something Vandy wanted included to keep themselves from being kicked out.

I doubt it because Vanderbilt is not nor will it ever get kicked out of the SEC. There is a much higher chance of it leaving on its own. UGA administration and fans may be mad at them now but I would wager the rest of the league has no problem with their ineptitude at football (and in fact, some count on it to get a win where they can).

I don't see them ever leaving on their own and giving up all the dollars they get from the SEC.

I know...yet that has a greater possibility of happening than what people are suggesting here.
