We'll soon see how much talent and depth we have in the program.

Maybe it's this way with all the other teams. I'd be interested in knowing. Makes me wonder about these kids loyalty to their coach and if there's something missing there. If Florida kids and Texas A&M kids are doing this then that makes me feel somewhat better.

Was listening to a game, North Texas vs. App State, and one of the on-air commentators mentioned having talked with a player for App State who has pretty high NFL draft prospects. He was asked about whether or not he'd thought to "opt out" of the game considering his potential draft status. You'd have to hear it, live, but sufficient to say, he barely even knew what they were talking about. "What, NO! Are you kidding? Of course I'm playing!" Why? As he explained, quite simply, because these are my brothers. How am I going to tell them I'm bailing?

I'd be interested to see all programs ranked by how many players they've had simply decline to play in at least one game since this trend began. I feel like UGA has been hit particularly hard, and it would be good to get that information and actually know where we rank. A side component could be the average draft status of all those players. Overall it just feels like there might be some kind of culture problem in this program, but without knowing how we stack up to the rest of the country it's hard to say. I'd like to believe that if/when we get over the championship hump this will settle down, but until guys decide more routinely that Georgia is worth sticking around for and cultivating some continuity and team chemistry rather than heading out at the first opportunity and creating this high turnover rate in the process, that's going to be relatively difficult to do.

Why is Trey Hill not listed as a projected returning scholarship player for 2021?

Leaving a legacy shouldn't involve UGA losing to a team like Cincinnati. EVER. Guess the opt outs don't care about that. I don't care if this practice is one that everyone does, if it was me, YOU PLAY UNTIL THE END! Period. Shameful, selfish and character revealing as far as I'm concerned. All in the pursuit of money. That's what makes the world go around. My guess is Kirby feels the same way, but he can't say it.

If we still do not win easily come 2nd half there is a culture/coaching problem. Cincinnati only has 4 4* players over the last 4 recruiting classes. No excuse. Next man up. I don't like the trend and do believe we need to provide better draft analysis, but our roster is DEEP!

I would love to see this analysis! I think it would be beneficial for the players as they make this decision as well. Hopefully they provide this internally.

Man, I hate seeing all those guys not playing. But, best of luck to all of them!

    GO DAWGS!

Bunch of selfish fans. If the Bowl games aren't a playoff game then they mean nothing. Its an exhibition. They are making smart bussiness decisions and all yall are hating.

I'll never understand this mentality about the bowl games. They count on the team's record, so they have meaning to the extent that the sport itself does - just like every other game that counts. It's that simple. I (and I imagine still many others) would argue that the upper tier bowls - where a team has made it through the season and is now deliberately being matched up against another highly ranked opponent in a prestigious venue - are particularly meaningful; that's what it's all been building toward, that's the pay-off. Maybe not a championship, no, but still a significant moment and achievement.

And as I've said previously, non-championship-track bowl games have been around forever; they didn't just pop into existence with the playoff. I don't know how people have gotten it in their head that suddenly these upper tier bowl games matter less than they did 5 or 10 years ago. I find it bizarre.
