Jamie Newman makes no sense in this group. Why in God's name would you opt out 3 weeks before the season? You could have been the man last season at UGA and proven yourself big time? The hype was there. You were in the Heisman discussion. Now? Free agent journeyman? Someone advised him all wrong. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Zona, I agree. He was geared up for a massive opportunity. Remember a kid named Joe Burrow? Why would you opt out when you are finally on the big stage? To go from a Heisman talk to becoming an undrafted free agent is criminal. It’s a life altering mistake. Seems like there are a lot of bad advisors out there, encouraging underclassmen to leave early or not to play only to go undrafted. It’s got to be a short term financial driver for their own pockets pushing this kind of questionable advice. Sad state of affairs.

On the flip side, seeing so many Dawgs picked up in the draft is great for our recruiting. Can’t wait for season two of a Monken offense.

    Go Dawgs!

Work hard and prove yourselves, gentlemen and enjoy a long, prosperous career. There are lots of early round busts and free agent wins.

And why the heck is the banner picture a shot of someone that is not a Dawg? Could you not find pictures of Herring or Daniel? It is insulting that a selfish quitter is mentioned as "former Georgia quarterback". In the body of the article he is even listed as Wake Forest and at the senior bowl he played as Wake.

Why is newman still called a dawg? Did he eve even practice with the team?

One wonders how he would have fared this week if he had stayed with the team.

Oops/ I guess newman did practice with the team. Even still, why is he called a dawg?

Newman could've been front and center on a championship contender. Instead failing to show confidence in his skills by opt'ing out. In retrospect, not a smart move. An all-time dumb move.

With how DJ Daniel practiced at the Senior Bowl, had he come back, he could've been next years Stokes/Campbell. Should be a lesson to the young Dawgs. Bama players come back and go in the 1st 2 rds. UGA players leave early and get picked late if at all.

I just have to believe Newman's opt out was because he didn't win the starting position and his lack of accuracy over the middle was what Monken couldn't get past. I think Jamie was given a heads up about where he stood and chose to opt out because the hype was big but the game was not. If Jamie was going to be the starter and opted out, then he made a horrible business decision.
