    "...playoff expansion is inevitable."

Ha! No, that's CERTAINLY not true. It's all about the REVENUE and what makes the decision makers the most money. They don't ask fans. They don't ask coaches. They don't ask College Administrators. They DO ask advertisers and advertisers want to see matchups that benefit their companies.

Lets assume that the final 2020 rankings represented the playoffs today and #5 played #12, #4 played #11, etc. That'd be matchups like Texas A&M vs Coastal Carolina. Do you really think advertisers get the viewers they are looking for with that matchup, ESPECIALLY with a nobody like Coastal Carolina. #11 Indiana for FOOTBALL? Ha! #10 Iowa State???

No, no, no. They know viewers from markets in the SEC will watch their teams regardless.

Need proof? Just look at the Bowl logos. The sponsored team DWARFS the name of the bowl itself. It's not the Orange Bowl, it's the CAPITAL ONE (... orange ...) BOWL.

Nothing would make me happier than to see it expand. 8 would be great. 12 would be awesome. I'll believe it when I see it though.

How would you treat the last 3 teams that survived playoff games 1 and 2? Do the 3 teams get onto the field at once and throw each other off the field until 2 teams are completely off the filed like the WWE?

Moving to a 12 team playoff would please the everyone gets a trophy crowd. A 12 team playoff would ensure that the PAC 12, 14, whatever and a G5 would get in, and everyone will be happy until the SEC puts 3 teams in, then they'll whine about that too.

12 is too many teams. 4 are too few. 8 is the number. Any plan that allows the top teams a bye should not and will not be approved. Teams with a bye have an unfair advantage. Won't happen. They will go to 16 before they go to 12.

Good analysis Connor...The excitement for me in an expanded playoff - whether it be 8 or 12 teams - is the better potential matchups/games. And obviously this expansion gives the DAWGS a much better opportunity to be in the playoff field. I'd love to see it before the current playoff contract runs out in '25 or '26, but sounds like the tide has definitely finally turned in favor of expansion.

In most years it is difficult to find 4 teams that are actually quality teams. This is why there are so many blow outs. Now we will be subject to more one sided games. The only thing this does is put the truly quality teams of losing. This will not be because of some upset but because key personnel get injured in the previous game. So the risk to UGA is not losing to a Costal Carolina but that Daniels gets hurt.
