Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

5th in his heat(10.13), so he does not advance. Didn’t look good out of the blocks, but I salute him for doing Dawgnation proud!
10.05 was good for 3rd, so even if he had run the same race as the SEC Finals he would not have advanced.

It appears to me he has had a problem (relatively speaking) getting out of the blocks. Hopefully that will be corrected by next season. He may ultimately be more of a 200/400 type of guy than a 100/200 type. Pictures of him running at SEC and NCAA meets show him tense/grimacing. Not knowing him at all (and only slightly more about sprinting) I'd think he could work on running more relaxed as well. At his level, it's all about the "little" things. I echo your salute to him!!
Apparently he's about where he was as a senior in high school. Long term I think his best event might end up being the 200 meters.
Coleman killed it in the 400m
Who?
I don't follow track, but it seems like most Olympic sprinters are a bit older than college kids. I wonder what the normal peak age is for them.
just a guess but somewhere around 25-30 but with better sports med, physical therapy, chiropractic, nutrition and such, it seems they do last a lot longer these days. good research question.
It varies. Usain Bolt set the current world record in both the 100 and 200 metres when he was either 22 or 23 years old. On the other hand Carl Lewis last set the world record in the 100 at 30 years old and Michael Johnson set the world record in the 200 at 29 years old.
As some know I pretty much post it how I see it, for better or worse. From what I see Matthew has a ways to go before his mechanics are really effecient. He moves his arms and dips his shoulders at times during races that is not only wasteful but creates drag. Watch Carl Lewis highlights, he was flawless in many of his races.
Maybe the new track coach can get him straightened out. 🙄
I probably know more about brain surgery than I do about running. I’ll leave this discussion to y’all.
Do all of our football players have perfect form ?
The below linked comment is from a previous thread on this topic. Your predictability speaks for itself:
I think # 99 could use a tune-up.
Please don't cry.
