OMG so many kool-aid drinking people on here. Beck should have started against UAB. Hands down Smart has proving time and time again to play his "Pet" players. Beck needs the rep's and needs to start. I don't want to hear he is not ready. It's the coaches job to make sure he is ready. The 2021 season will end the way 2020 did. Bennett did play well against a JV team, but has shown he is not a starting caliber QB for any other team. Why on Gods green earth has a QB that has been at GA for 2 years not be ready to play? Is it the player or is it the coaching staff? I believe it's the coaches. If I was a young talented QB I would never come to play for Smart and GA. I have loved this team for 50 years and time and time again have seen GA throw away the opportunity to get a young QB starting rep's. We should have played Fields against Alabama in the Championship game several years ago. Smart blew that chance and I feel this year will be more of the same. Ga has a great front 7 but out DB's are our weak spot on this team. Smart played DB but lacks the ability to teach young players a position he played. If UGA blow's another promising season I see Smart getting the boot. This is a result driven sport and Smart needs to develop the players to ensure we win.
I feel like "drinking the kool aid" after KeithDog's comments below.
My man Stetson is gonna take his job back! You go big guy! Shows what hard work and perseverance can do.
I'm tired of everyone saying Bennet is too short and his arm is too weak. Then he goes about tieing the school record for thrown TDs in a game a lays out a few dime bombs doing it. Bennet is a DGD.
Hi Beck. Welcome to the forum. Sorry things didn't work out for ya.
Fans. You can't live with them, and you can't live without them. Kirby and only Kirby is the head coach at UGA. He did what he was hired to do., yesterday and that was to lead his team to victory.
No one mentioning the very obvious elephant in the room...Brock Vandagriff is apparently 4th on the pecking order...Can’t even get 1 pass attempt in a blowout win over a cupcake! (I know UAB is a good football team, but...There are 2 or 3 games a year top teams are expected to win convincingly and young players can get some reps...This is one of them) So, Vandagriff chose UGA over Oklahoma...Where he was almost assuredly going to start his 2nd year on campus there...Stays home...5* guy...Uber talented...Same as Fields...0 Reps...Carson Beck looked great didn’t he !?! I’m super proud Bennett played well...Good for him...By all accounts is a great young man...But...Hope everyone realizes this one game and the way they handled is QB rotation...Up by 30...Matters...And the end result might just be Vandagriff transferring...And...We (As Dawg Fans) will have to watch him light it up somewhere else like Oklahoma...Justin Fields all over again...
It even worries me that Gunner Stockton is watching...
The value of getting Brock playing time and game reps...Is far more important than lighting up UAB and pumping your chest up...Would have been better IMO to win this game by 15 instead of 35 and give the 5* QB and the future of your program some love, and let him work through some growing pains.
Carson Beck is the guy you hope hangs around and is a good backup the next 3 years...Vandagriff is the guy you are banking on winning championship with...
Why no one is talking about this is mind boggling !
Recruiting ranking are not everything...I get that...But...
Carson Beck rating out of H.S...250th in the country...
Vandagriff...17th...
If you want to start the veteran and jump out to a lead...Great...But let’s stop acting like Carson Beck not getting more playing time is the issue...
As soon as Jacob Eason came back from injury and they started Fromm instead...You knew Eason was leaving...Halfway through Fields freshman season...You knew he was transferring...And now...The NCAA gives you a free escape clause...It’s even easier to leave !
Bye Brock ! Thanks for helping our recruiting rankings ! Good luck at :::My guess would be Oklahoma...But it would be awfully ironic if he ended up at Florida...Auburn...
To Be Continued...
@DipSpit Smart said last week Vandagriff is working with the scout team behind Carson and Stetson and JT.
@DAWGFORLIFE1988 Media is not allowed access to the players, and it would be breaking UGA policy to contact a player outside of the media opportunities the school allows for.
