I would have to say Jeff that I usually don’t read your long articles like this, I usually skim them, but this was one of the best stories I’ve read from beginning to end! Great job of putting me in this young mans shoes! Keep up the good work!
What a difficult read. Long is no problem. Ever proof??? Having to stop to reread due to errors is annoying as all get out. Quit after first 3 or 4 paragraphs. Take an English or writing class?
Commit to the G!!!!
This young receiver needs UGA! He is a perfect fit. He has good hands and fleet feet. Smart can groom him for the NFL. He certainly needs to get away from where he was. UGA has the best program I know for the all round player.
Sounds like this young man has his priorities in order. He will be blown away with the game day - night atmosphere during the Kentucky game.

With Kirby Smart as the coach at UGA, if you want to practice against the best, then UGA is the clear answer and the program that will best prepare you for the NFL. Best Defense in CFB. Period! I like UGA's chances...
Mr. Burden, just as with the DBs that try to cover you, it might do you well to put as much distance between you and ESL as you can. And I can't think of a better landing spot than Athens, GA. You'll not only get a first class education and best-possible NFL prep, but you'll be surrounded and supported by incredibly good people in the program and throughout the city. The grass truly is greener 'tween the hedges. Go Dawgs!
Life is all about the choices you make. I hope he chooses well. Looks like a college Sr. already.
Its unfortunate that the kids in ESL are living in an environment that resembles a third world situation instead of a a city in America. Where ever he goes to school hopefully, he will use the opportunity to pull himself and his family out of that environment.
That said, UGA, AThens , and the state of GA will provide opportunities not available anywhere in Missouri or Ok.
No comparison between Missouri and Georgia in all phases as Georgia is Elite and Missouri may be worse than Vandy. Anyone have a clue if he is leaning either way? I saw a couple of Missouri picks from the same analyst as he seems to have a hatred for Georgia, so I didn't put much stock in it.
Reading this article and I can't help but conclude that this kid's grandfather was Luther "Ticky" Burden, a terrific basketball player in high school in Albany, NY (my original home area) who went on to play at Utah, attain All-American status (along with Adrian Dantley and David Thompson the same year) and then played with the ABA Utah team and a couple seasons with the NY Knicks. I seem to recall his life went off the rails at some point and he spent time in prison and the irony of his grandson's life in ESL (which actually is in Illinois) is readily apparent. From what I read in this article, I'm hoping and optimistic this kid can escape his current circumstances and make it even farther in life than his granddad did.

If he truly wants to get away from East St. Louis, then he may as well start that journey by coming to Athens, Ga. No need to be only a two-hour drive from all the drama, heartache and "death" that he says is in ESL. And by the way, not sure why he should be pressured by anyone to go to Mizzou. East St. Louis, though a suburb of St. Louis, MO, is in ILLINOIS! Come on to UGA, Luther and relieve your "Burden." Go Dawgs!
Common sense should lead him to UGA. You never know why young men pick the schools they attend. If I wanted to get away from that type of violence I would get to Athens, GA ASAP.
