Why?
A good man no doubt, but definitely the weakest link on this coaching staff. He brought in some talented players, but their development is questionable at best. Receiver is the only position group that has failed to recruit and develop at a level with Bama.
That being said, Kirby and Hines in the same prospect’s living room? Locked and loaded in the receiving room!
And development? Who better? Hines has been championship elite in everything he has attempted!
Hate to lose him, but what an ideal time to swap-in Hines Ward. Not only do I think he'd be a great coach, but probably one of the only ones who would actually be an upgrade for recruiting... out of adversity, opportunity! :)
We will miss his recruiting but not his coaching as he hasn’t developed a decent wideout in ever even Pickens is still raw undeveloped talent that has a bigger upside bring on Hines Ward!!!
This is a no brainer. I know Hines Ward just got interviewed for an NFL coaching job, but he really doesn't have the experience IMO to take that step yet. He's a PERFECT FIT for the Dawgs, and he's been saying for years he wants to coach with Kirby. Make it happen!
Heck guys, let’s bring on Hines Ward and Terrence Edwards? Throw in Bobo to handle the QBs. No problem except we don’t have that many openings. I sure hope Addae doesn’t leave because he’s the #2 recruiter in college football (according to 247) and played a huge role in getting all our 5-star recruits. Go Dawgs!!!
I like Hines Ward. Sure Kirby is well aware of his talent. Hankton is from Louisiana ....just going back home....you know how these coaches are. Expected. More to come I fear.
Clearly if a high profile program doesn't give an assistant coach a raise in 2 years then you can assume they aren't happy with his performance. The fact that he moved to a lateral position at a weaker SEC school (although they always have potential to be champs) is indicating as well.
I'm going to assume that Georgia is happy with this decision.
Players hitting the portal, coaches getting on the carousel. Things looking pretty bleak right ?? Wrong !! Both of those work both ways !! UGA has Always been a prominent and attractive place for Quality players and coaches to be. Will be even More So now. Kirby is not even vaguely close to reaching his pinnacle !! Look for an explosion of Great people to join Kirby at UGA very soon !! Go Dawgs !!
Maybe Hines Ward, Champ Bailey, Mike Bobo at some point ?? Joining in with Kirby and Will ?? I think that would be pretty awesome !! Keep in mind that Will and Mike’s sons are players for the Dawgs to so they sure have plenty of motivation all the way around to WIN !!
Wow !! I apologize to Terrence in my brain fog I had temporarily forgotten him. You are absolutely right Terrence would be an Awesome get !!
Hankton seemed to be doing a good job of developing the talent but also seemed to miss on too many blue-chip prospects.
I would think either Heinz Ward or Terrence Edwards would be great recruiters for UGA. This may turn out to be an upgrade.
Best of luck to coach Hankton.
Terrence Edwards time to shine. Hines Ward as well.
Not trying to take shots here but anybody who thinks there is something wrong when a National Champion Program has immediate turnover has been under a rock the past two decades. All part of the price of success.
Yep. You are right as rain !! Bama lost allot of great players to the NFL for every one of those Nattys. The thing is though players coming out of HS want to play for a Winner. Kirby will land more comes traditional Signing Day. And I believe he’s gonna get some very good to greet ones from the portal before all is said and done. It works both ways.
Good luck with a southern talking Midwesterner at LSU. I will take Edwards or Ward any day of the week! Terrance does it for a living, but Hines may have a leg-up in helping recruit.
Good luck at lsu. Smart came to Uga because it was home, and you are doing the same. Don’t trust Kelly too much though.
Good luck to Coach Hankton. And I'm good with Hines Ward as his replacement, if that happens. But clearly, you don't have to be star college player or NFL Hall of Famer to bring success. The receivers coach at Ohio State is proof of that. In fact, I say, let's load up the cash train and go after that guy. He's already proven his worth. I fear that even if we were to hire Hines (which is not guaranteed), we would be merely a brief stopping point on his way to the NFL. I feel that's where he ultimately would like to coach, perhaps replacing his former coach, Mike Tomlin, with the Steelers. Go Dawgs!
