This situation sucks. JTD was injured(nobody knew was hidden by coaching staff), played well against Clemson, but not stellar. First game of season, others were not perfect, but won against one of the best defenses in the country even as year progressed. Wide receivers limited. He was held out of UAB game and we won, of course. He again started at South Carolina (who finished top 2 passing defense in SEC) threw 300 plus yards and won 40-13, and embarressed new coach Beamer. Started against Vanderbilt had a 35-0 first quarter and was pulled because of continued pain. Personal physician said no play. SBIV started and won against Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky. JT was cleared well before Florida, and was been benched since, (FL,TN,MO) without the opportunity in games with the 1st team. Was Kirby mad because he consulted a personal physician? and therefore made him sit? We don't know, there are rumors, that the family and JT , Kirby were not happy, and JT was placed on "play only as needed" category leading to portal probability, leading to final games without play. He was discounted because we had someone that was adequate , and would get by with the defense that was great. He was screwed out of of his next to last chance, and does not want to be sidelined by coaching staff who will play SB because he won CFC even if he's not the best QB of the team

Wow, there’s a bunch of idiots evaluating future NFL quarterbacks! To read the experts on this website, not one of them see an obvious #1 pick as even being draft worthy.

I guess being a backup at USC and again at UGA is not what they are looking for to lead their franchise.

Averaging 17 points per game against the two decent teams he faced as a Dawg (Cincy, Clemson) doesn’t exactly scream NFL material, but what do the idiots know that make a living evaluating QB talent? The real experts think MG is a genius and Kirby is an idiot!

No, go to UF where there will be much more danger facing the Dawgs D than getting a TE pushed into you by accident while wearing a non- contact jersey that put you on the shelf for multiple weeks.

Exactly. who did I call an idiot other than tongue in cheek? I think it a lot while reading these posts, but I refrain from actually writing it.

My frustration is more about feeling bad for JT. He did everything right and has the talent to match. He deserved more playing time.

What I've come to accept is that Smart is going to design the Offense the way he wants them. QBs either fit the model he wants or they don't. Fields probably realized it and left. Newman absolutely realized it and knew he wouldn't start. It's heartbreaking for JT, but if he finds the right school he'll have an amazing year next year and increase his draft stock exponentially. There was NOTHING JT could do to get the schemes he needed and so staying would've been an absolute disaster.

The focus now needs to be on Vandagriff. We've heard so little from him and that needs to change this offseason.
